Who Is William Bludworth in Final Destination?

William Bludworth appeared as a mortician in the first Final Destination movie in 2000. He seemed to be well acquainted with death’s rules and design. As the films never revealed anything about his origins, some fans believed him to be death himself, while others thought he might be death’s messenger. So, basically, the fandom expected him to emerge as a villainous character. However, Final Destination Bloodlines finally shed light on his mysterious past.
Bloodlines sees Stefanie finding the name ‘JB’ written in the diary that her grandma hands over to her before dying. So, when she, Darlene, Charlie, Bobby, and Erik approach him in the hospital, JB doesn’t take long to recognize the family. After seeing them, JB tells them that he was the last one to die in the Sky Tower premonition, but Iris’s courageous act saved him, along with the other people in the restaurant.
Bludworth also reveals that Iris wasn’t only protecting her bloodline from the high-security cabin throughout her life; she was also keeping him alive. JB was supposed to die when he was a child, but Iris helped him cheat death. That’s why he helped others to get familiar with death’s vengeful nature over the years.
The actor and the character will not appear in future installments, and the void will always be felt.
