What Happened to Caesar in Fallout Season 2?

Well, it’s official folks, the original Caesar (aka Edward Sallow) is dead. The Legion’s creator was a major player in the core conflict of Fallout: New Vegas, but Fallout Season 2 has confirmed his demise somewhere along the 15-year time skip. In the show, we see Sallow’s skeletonized corpse lying in the middle of what appears to be Fortification Hill. The physical husk is sporting his lore-accurate garb, down to the Power Fist on his right hand.
The show doesn’t spell out exactly how he passed away, but we’re assuming that it was likely due to his terminal brain tumor. As FNV players will remember, the character was in desperate need of treatment, and failing to provide it would lead to his death in one of thegame’s ending slides. By the looks of it, his demise is indeed canon, meaning the Courier’s ‘official’ route doesn’t have them play saviour to the merciless dictator.
Legion’s State Explained in Fallout Season 2

Just as it was foretold by the Burned Man (Joshua Graham), infighting has taken over the Legion following Caesar’s death. The faction’s senior members appear to be vying for influence, as two separate commanders have risen, each claiming to be Caesar’s successor. The two have amassed a group of loyalists willing to fight and die on their behalf, meaning Caesar’s Legion is effectively in a state of civil war.
In the show, this is represented by way of a Legion camp (likely Fortification Hill) that’s split down the middle. The two sub-factions are separated by a mound of dirt, and any attempts to get to the other side are met by gunfire from the opposition.
The barrier is formed around the original Caesar’s corpse, which holds the name of the true successor in its pocket. Any attempts to retrieve this note are also met by gunfire until the Ghoul makes things extremely simple and sparks a full-scale clash by blowing up the barrier.
Another crucial development is tied to Macaulay Culkin’s character, who has assumed the position of the Legate. This also means that Sallow’s Legate, Lanius, is nowhere to be seen, and the show also makes no mention of the fearsome warrior.
And that sums up the state of Caesar’s Legion in Fallout Season 2. Are you happy with the writers’ choices? Let us know in the comments.
