9 Best Elden Ring Rune Farm Locations (2024)

Most gamers out there know that Elden Ring is an extremely tough experience. So unless you are someone used to playing the Soulsborne video games, you will get frustrated quite a lot. Thankfully, Elden Ring allows you to farm runes to upgrade your character and quickly level up. If you’re a player speedrunning to prepare for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, keep reading as we show you the best Elden Ring rune farm locations right here.

Before we begin the list, let’s give a quick reminder. Always carry some Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. That increases your rune acquisition by 30% temporarily. So, always munch one while farming Runes for increased numbers. Furthermore, if you have the Golden Scarab Talisman, equip it as it gives you 20% extra rune. With that said, let’s take a look:

1. Lenne’s Rise in Dragonbarrow

One of the best rune farming locations in Elden Ring is at Lenne’s Rise at Caelid. Once you locate this place by going to the location on the map, ride your horse and start following the road right across the site of Grace. You’ll see a magic ball spawn, which will always roll towards you. The trick here is to let the ball roll downwards, so dodge the balls when they are coming towards you.

Following this method can net you around 1,700 runes per run, which increases when you are using the fowl foot and the Golden Scarab.

2. Five Giants Behind the Warmaster Shack at Stormhill

Once you go past the insurmountable forces in Stormhill Gate and discover the Warmaster Shack at Stormhill, take your horse and ride behind the shack. You’ll see an open space with five giants walking around. Eat a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot, and take out these five giants.

Successfully doing this will provide you with 1,000 runes from each giant, totaling 5,000 runes. Keep repeating this process until you have the sufficient rune amount to level up. This is the best early-game Elden Ring rune farm, and you can always also kill the surrounding wolves and birds for the added rune drop.

3. Albinauric Village

Once you are past Godrick in Elden Ring, you’ll arrive at Liurnia Lake. Go to the above location to visit the old Albunauric village. Eat a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot, and quickly start slaying almost every old Albunauric you see here sitting. Don’t worry, as they are already past their prime.

Following this step will provide you with 760 runes per death. Keep repeating this process while eating Golden-Pickled Fowl Foot to get the maximum amount of runes. Then, level up your character and continue your Elden Ring rune farming experience.

4. Area near Beastial Sanctuary

I’ll be honest when I say that this Elden Ring rune farm is tricky, as you will need to progress further into the game. You need to first talk with D, Hunter of the Dead at Summonwater Village Outskirts, and teleport yourself to Bestial Sanctum. Once you reach it, ignore the boss standing outside and ride to the bridge with a Dragon sitting on top. On the way, you’ll find numerous enemies.

Ensuring you’ve popped the fowl foot, kill them and they will drop somewhere from 10,000 to 14,000 runes per run, making this an amazing place for Elden Ring rune farming. Of course, if you want to take the challenge, kill the dragon and keep performing this task.

5. Windmill Village at Altus Plateau

When you first reach the Altus Plateau and explore the area judiciously, you can come across a rather creepy place called Windmill Village. Now, there is a good chance of encountering a rather shady boss called Godskin Apostle. Thankfully, he is situated deep into the location, and you don’t have to fight him before starting the farming.

Once you reach the area, start killing the witches dancing around. Killing all of them will net you a total of 7000 runes. To get more simply reset the location to make it a profitable Elden Ring rune farm.

Now before I suggest the next three rune farming methods in Elden Ring, ensure you’ve met with Varre in Rose Church and completed his questline to receive the Pureblood Knight’s medal. This will take you to the underground location of Moghwyn’s Dynasty Mausoleum.

6. Moghwyn Palace Jump Bug

Once you reach the Moghwyn Dynasty underground area, summon your horse and hug the wall on the right. Ride as fast as you can to an open area with blood-red water. Take a hard left to reach the hill corner, and use your horse to jump upwards. Once up there, walk towards the point marked on the map and jump off the cliff on your horse.

Keep slashing while you do this, and you’ll see Rune rushing into your inventory. You can earn upwards of 100,000 runes with this method, making this one of the best Elden Ring rune farming locations!

7. Kill the Walking Enemies

This method is a little time-consuming but one of the best methods to gather a lot of runes in Elden Ring if you are at Moghwyn Palace. Spawn at the Dynasty Mausoleum Site of Grace and start killing all the enemies you see.

Do note that you will incur blood loss from the mist spit out by them. You’ll get around 60,000 runes in the first run if you successfully kill every one of them. Keep repeating this method with Fowl Foot consumed and the Golden Scarab medallion equipped.

8. Kill the Albunaurics Crouched Around

Another great place to farm in Elden Ring is once again at Moghwyn’s Place. Once you reach the Palace Approach Site of Grace, you’ll see tons of Albunaurics hunched down. Start killing them immediately.

You’ll earn 2044 runes per kill, and 2700 runes if killed with Fowl Foot consumed and Golden Scarab.

9. Kill the Crow Across the Ledge

The final farming area is once again at the Palace Approach Site of Grace. Right across the hill, if you lock your camera, you’ll see a crow walking.

Use a bow and aim at the crow to make it aggressive. It’ll try coming towards you and fall down the ledge, giving you 11,038 runes. With the fowl foot, it should be around 17,219 runes.

These were some of the best places where to farm runes in Elden Ring. Of course, the best way to play the game is by taking your time and progressing periodically through the game. Of course, if you’re bored of solo play, you can even learn how to play Elden Ring with friends.
