Elden Ring Nightreign The Forsaken Hollows will be released on December 4, 2025. This is DLC, and players must own both the base game and the DLC to play it. It will likely add two new expeditions for the nightlords below Hoelstor, which will only be accessible for the DLC owners. With the release date confirmed, let’s now take a look at the new gameplay details that will be added with the DLC.

Everything New in the Elden Ring Nightreign The Forsaken Hollos DLC

Two New Nightfarers

First, two new Nightfarers, aka Nightreign characters, will be joining the Roundtable Hold in Nightreign for fighting the ‘Abominations’. Likely, these Nightfarers would also bring news about the abominations to the others, revealing that the Night is not the only enemy they have to deal with. Here is a quick overview of everything we know about the new Nightfarers:

  • Undertaker: The new female Nightfarer is named Undertaker, and she is an abbess who was mandated to slay the Nightlord. She is proficient in Strength and Faith and wields a one-handed hammer as her starting weapon. We also see her Ultimate at play in the trailer, as she uses a ‘hammer out of her mouth’ to bash at the enemy.
  • Scholar: The new male Nightfarer is named Scholar, and he is said to be proficient with Arcane. He starts with a thrusting sword and is said to ‘gain incredible advantages through battlefield observation’. We also see his Ultimate at play, which appears to be debuffing enemies and also buffing himself after he defeats the debuffed ones.

New Enemies, Raids, and Field Bosses

With two expeditions, players can also expect new enemies, raids, and field bosses in the game. The trailers showcase some of the new enemies and bosses, so here is everything we know about them:

  • Fire Knight and Messmer Soldiers: The Nightfarers are shown fighting the Fire Knight and Messmer Soldiers in Limeveld, so they will be the new enemies added from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
  • Gladius raid: The trailer showcases Nightfarers fighting a single-headed Gladius in the open field. This likely hints at another raid, instead of just a field boss. Gladius is one of the Nightlords that don’t have a raid in the base game.
  • Field Boss: The Divine Beast Dancing Lion is going to be a newly added field boss in the Forsaken Hollows DLC. He is likely going to be the final boss of the New Shifting Earth event, as suggested by the trailer.

Other than these enemies and field bosses, we might see more new enemies appear from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in the two new expeditions.

New Shifting Earth

The new DLC will also be adding another Shifting Earth Nightreign event named ‘The Great Hollow’. This area is said to be stretching deep beneath the Limveld, and we see giant crystals popping out of the ground in this area. The Divine Beast Dancing Lion will likely be the final boss for this Shifting Earth event, and we may see more Crystaline enemies in this area.

Artorius, the New Nightboss

The biggest highlight of Nightreign, the Forsaken Hollows DLC trailer, was the reveal of Artorius as a Night boss. Artorius, the Abyss Walker, is one of the most popular bosses in Dark Souls, appearing in the first Dark Souls DLC. Darksouls players wanted to see him back in Nightreign after seeing Nameless King make an appearance. FromSoftware clearly listened, and this has made the whole community happy.

In terms of boss mechanics, we do see a new grab attack for Artorius in the trailer. Some of his movesets will likely be polished, as the Dark Souls DLC was released almost thirteen years ago.

Two New Nightlords

Alongside all the new Nightfarers, enemies, raids, shifting earth events, and field bosses, the new DLC will also add two new Nightlords. Although we don’t really have any information on them, the trailer does give us a glance at the new bosses. Here is everything we noticed about the new Nightlords from the trailer:

  • Seven Angels: The first Nightlord appears to be seven angel-like beings, wielding a polearm. However, they will likely merge into one big boss, as surely FromSoftware doesn’t plan for us to fight seven different enemies at once, right?
  • Blighted Abomination: The second Nightlord looks straight out of a nightmare. He is massive in size, wields a large cudgel, and sits in a blighted land. Expect to be afflicted with multiple different status effects during this fight; hopefully, Deathblight won’t be one of them.

So, that’s everything we currently know about the new Elden Ring Nightreign the Forsaken Hollows DLC. Did you notice something more? Let us know in the comments.
