Elden Ring Nightreign: Everdark Sovereign Expeditions Explained

In Short
  • Everdark Sovereigns are enhanced Nightlords in Elden Ring Nightreign.
  • These ‘Hard Mode’ Nightlords have added resistances and new move sets while retaining their base moves.
  • Defeating the Everdark Sovereigns will reward players with Sovereign Sigils, which can be used to force Shifting Earth events, buy new skins, and Relic Chalices.

Elden Ring Nightreign has retained a strong player base even after weeks of the game’s release. If you were among the few who stopped playing the game, FromSoftware has just provided you another reason to jump back into Limveld. Elden Ring Nightreign has just shadow dropped the new Everdark Sovereign mode, which lets players fight enhanced versions of the Nightlords currently added in the game. However, these enhanced bosses are time-limited. Want to learn more? Here is everything you need to know about Everdark Sovereign in Elden Ring Nightreign.

What is Everdark Sovereign in Elden Ring Nightreign

To put it simply, the Everdark Sovereign expeditions are ‘hard modes’ for existing Elden Ring Nightreign Nightlords in the game. However, the hard mode is not merely an increase in damage and health, but also adds an entirely new set of moves, increases damage negation for the boss, and AI tweaks for more aggressive behaviour.

These Everdark Sovereign Nightlords will appear as weekly events. As such, you can only fight them during that time period. As of now, the first Everdark Sovereign, Adel, Baron of the Night (Gaping Jaw), is now available. This Elden Ring Nightreign boss will be in the game from June 19, 6:00 PM PDT to June 26, 5:59 PM PDT.

However, the enhanced versions of Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight have also been confirmed to appear soon as events.

The new Gaping Jaw has a third phase once its health reaches 50% or below. The third phase gives the new Everdark boss a completely new move set, including a Lightning whirlwind that requires players to use a spiritstream to enter. Futhermore, the original Gaping Jaw’s first two phases are squeezed into the first 50% of the new Gaping Jaw’s health.

How to Unlock Everdark Sovereign Nightlords in Elden Ring Nightreign

The Everdark Sovereign Nightlord must be unlocked first before you can play against them. You can fight an Everdark Sovereign version of the Nightlord after you have defeated its base form in the game. However, there could be additional requirements to unlock the new Nightlords, as we have noticed that the Everdark Sovereign mode doesn’t appear in one of our accounts while it does on another at the same time.

One of our guesses so far is that the mode unlocks after you have completed a certain number of character Remembrances in Nightreign. The account of ours that has yet to unlock the Everdark Sovereign boss doesn’t have any Remembrances done, so that seems to be the common link so far. However, there is also a possibility that you need to own the Deluxe version of the game to obtain the new Everdark Sovereign DLC.

Everdark Sovereign Rewards

Fighting the Everdark Sovereign is not just for the thrill, but also comes with unique new rewards. Defeating the Everdark Sovereign Nightlords will reward players with Sovereign Sigils, a new in-game currency.

The Sovereign Sigils can be used to obtain character skins, new Relic chalices, or even force Shifting Earth events. The community has been asking for a way to get Shifting Earth events more frequently, so this should definitely make all of them happy. There will be a new merchant in the Roundtable Hold after you defeat the first Everdark Sovereign, where you can spend the Sigils.

So, that’s everything there is to know about the Everdark Sovereign expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign. Hopefully, we will also see the enhanced versions of the other bosses very soon. Tell us your opinion on the new hard mode Nightlords in the comment section below.
