So if you’re someone prepping for just that, keep reading as we show you to find and beat Mohg, Lord of Blood in Elden Ring!

Fun Fact! As per latest reports from various publication and on Steam, approximately 62% percent players havent’ defeated Mohg, Lord of Blood in Elden Ring.

There are two significant steps to track and defeat Mohg in the Elden Ring. The first step includes beating Starscourge Radahn at Caelid during the Festival of Radahn. Once you’re done there, your priority is tracking White Mask Varre down after encountering him at The First Step and finishing his quest line.

Complete White Mask Varre’s Questline

White Mask Varre is an NPC you encounter when you first reach Limgrave in Elden Ring. He wears a white mask, calls you Maidenless, and gives you the task of meeting him later. So, here’s how to finish the questline of Varre:

  • Defeat Godrick The Grafted at Stormhill Castle: This is extremely important as it allows you to meet with Enia at Roundtable Hold. Once you open the door to Enia, Varre moves from the First Step to his next place.
  • Progress through the castle to reach Liurnia of the lake: At Liurnia, head to the Rose Church to find Varre standing there. Talk with him about receiving a multiplayer item named Festering Bloody Finger.
  • Use the finger thrice to invade other players: You don’t have to defeat them, so leave their world after immediately invading them.
  • Join the Bloody Lord Order: Once done, Varre asks you to join his order. Agree to it, and Varre gives you an item named the Lord of Blood’s Favor, instructing you to soak the item in the blood of a maiden.
  • The easiest thing to do here is to head to the Four Belfries, near Liurnia, though a little farther down. Refer to the map for the location.
  • Activate the second Belfry tower to return to the Chapel of Anticipation, where you begin Elden Ring. Interact with the dead maiden to dip the cloth. Head back to Varre back at Rose Church and talk with him twice. Talking the second time will reward you with the Pureblood Knight’s Medal.

With the Medal in hand, we have completed Varre’s portion of the quest line, which is getting us the essential item to track Mohg, Lord of Blood, in Elden Ring.

  • Meet with the two fingers in Roundtable Hold after defeating Godrick the grafted
  • Find Varre at the Rose Church in Liurnia
  • reach the second belfry at the four belfries to visit the chapel of anticipation and interact with the dead maiden
  • Activate the marked Belfry tower to progress the side-quest to access Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
  • After dipping the cloth in a maiden's blood, talk with Varre to receive Pureblood Knight's Medal. It takes you to Moghwyn palace

Where to Find Mohg in Elden Ring

Before we begin beating Mohg in Elden Ring, you must finish defeating Radahn too. If you haven’t, now’s the best time to do that. Another optional task you should consider doing is finishing Yura’s Questline. You can do this by learning how to get the Elden Ring Nagakiba guide.

While this might take a few hours, completing it will give you a Purifying Crystal Tear. This item comes in handy later in-game. With Radahn defeated, go into your inventory, select the Pureblood’s Knight Medal, and use it. This will bring you to the Moghwyn Palace.

Once you’ve reached the Moghwyn Palace, head southwest from where you spawn and sit at the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance Site of Grace. Then, follow the road opposite the Site of Grace into a wide open area where a handful of first-generation Albunaurics worship an individual. Instead of fighting with them, hike a right and ride the enormous elevator to reach Mohg’s boss’s room.

  • use the Pureblood Knight's Medal to reach Moghwyn Palace
  • Go up the stairs and take a left to activate the Site of Grace
  • Take the stairs to go up and continue until the Mausoleum mid-point to find Mohg in Elden Ring
  • From the mid-point site of grace, take a right to reach an open area with Albunaurics praying
  • Go towards the right to take the large lift that takes you at the front of the Mohg boss-room in Elden Ring

How to Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood in Elden Ring

So you have finally arrived face to face against Mohg. Before you bring out the best Elden Ring greatswords, do know that this optional boss is a ferocious enemy. Mohg, Lord of Blood has two phases that can pose quite a challenge. Follow the tips below to learn how to defeat him easily:

Mohg First Phase

  • Wear good physical armor: If you’ve fought Margitt The Fell Omen, Mohg follows a similar fighting style, except amplifying its damage. Hence, get yourself some good, sturdy armor.
  • Take advantage of i-Frames: Almost every attack of Mohg has invincibility frames (IFrames) when you roll towards him. The only exceptions to this are the ones that deal fire damage. Hence, roll towards Mohg when you see him swinging his staff.
  • Use Mohg’s Shackles: If you have been to Subterranean Shunning Grounds at Leyndell, you’ll find Mogh’s Shackles guarded by two Crayfish. Use this to stun Mohg and put some damage on him.
  • Use Purifying Crystal Tear: Mohg will use the NIHIL attack in the boss fight, reciting Tres, Duo, and Unus and creating three rings around you. Near the end, he’ll yell NIHIL, damaging you and healing himself. Use the Purifying Crystal Tear received from completing Yura’s questline in your Flask of Wondrous Physick to negate the blood magic. If you don’t have the tear, use healing flasks after each attack, using a maximum of two if you have high health.

Mohg Second Phase

When you’ve dropped his health down to 50% and Mohg has performed his NIHIL attack, he’ll sprout wings and proceed to his second phase. While not overly difficult, follow the tips below to best deal with this phase here.

  • Use your Spirit Ashes: I suggest using a summon this time, as Mohg becomes increasingly erratic with his fire and blood damage. The Mimic will gain his attention while you can sneak in and deal some considerable damage. I used Mimic Tears during the fight, so I suggest using it if you haven’t.
  • Look out for the AOE: Mohg performs a lot of AOE attacks during this phase. The best course of action here is to watch for them. There’s one where he throws blood at you, which turns into fire. Similarly, he’ll slam the ground, sprouting fire. Keep these in check while dealing with Mohg.
  • Carefully dodge his lunges: His attack stays similar for the most part, except for a flying lunge. Dodge either left or right the boss when he comes lunging toward you to avoid taking damage.

If you follow these steps, defeating Mohg in the Elden Ring will be child’s play. From here on, when Shadow of the Erdtree DLC drops, you can access it immediately without a hassle. Let me know if you’ve defeated this boss earlier or plan on beating this boss in the comments below.

Can I reach Mohg through other means?

There lies a secret entrance to Moghwyn Palace at the Consecrated Snowfield. It is a teleporter you find northwest of Yelough Annex Ruins at Consecrated Snowfield. However, this process requires you to find the Haligtree Medallion to reach Consecrated Snowfield, which is a different task altogether. Furthermore, Consecrated Snowfield is a fairly late-game area, and Varre will always be available until you defeat Malekith.
