Those who have been following our Elden Ring boss guides must be growing tired of the insane amount of bosses the game has. Well, just when you think Shadow of the Erdtree is out of bosses, we are back with another one. Today we have Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, an Elden Ring Erdtree boss who is important to the game’s lore. However, finding Midra and defeating him is another matter altogether. So keep reading as we show you how to find and beat Midra in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame Location in Elden Ring

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, is located in the Midra Manse in Abyssal Woods. Reaching Abyssal Woods itself is quite a task, and finding the Midra Manse in Abyssal Woods is close to a nightmare with the Aged Ones roaming around and instantly sucking out your HP with one mistake! Here is a step-by-step guide on how to find Midra, Lord of the Frenzied Flames in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree so that you can defeat him.

  • First, you need to reach Abyssal Woods. We already have a complete guide on how to reach Abyssal Woods in Elden Ring, so simply follow it.
  • After you reach the Woodland Trail Site of Grace, head west to reach the Abyssal Wood Site of Grace. From there, continue moving South West, until you see a looming castle in the front, which is Midra’s Manse.
  • Do note that you will need to stealth your way through the Abyssal Woods to not attract the attention of the Aged Ones, who don’t take damage and do 2k HP worth of damage. You can kill the Aged Ones by parrying their Staff attack if you are bold enough.

  • Enter Midra’s Manse through the front gate and rest in the first Site of Grace inside the room.
  • Here you will see a painting on the left wall. Hit that painting to reveal a secret passage.
  • Go through the secret passage and enter the first room on the left. Keep moving forward until you find a lever. Pull the lever to move certain bookshelves revealing a ladder behind it.
  • Climb the ladder to the top and head to the balcony area from the next room.
  • Go past the enemy shooting Frenzied Flames and climb the ladder behind him.
  • Now head over the beams to reach the room on the other end and rest at the Midra’s Library Sight of Grace.
  • Walk over to the balcony and use the ladder on the right to climb down. After reaching the bottom, head left to find the next room.

  • Climb up the ladder and pull the lever there to move the bookshelves on the far side of Midra’s Library, revealing another passage.
  • Now, jump down and head to the far end of the library to find a new passage.
  • Make your way past the priests to reach the Second Floor Chamber Site of Grace. From here you can enter the Midra Boss room and fight him.

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame Weaknesses in Elden Ring

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame does a ton of damage and has a series of delayed attacks. Here are all his weaknesses you can exploit to defeat him easily:

  • Stagger damage: Midra takes heavy stagger damage from heavy weapons. His poise gets easily broken with some solid jump attacks with heavy weapons.
  • Bleed still works: Midra also gets bleed damage, and the buildup is much quicker than most Elden Ring DLC bosses (although slower compared to base game bosses).
  • Aggros on summons: When using summons, Midra will mainly focus on them instead of you, leaving you completely free to deal damage.
  • Physical Damage: Physical attacks do the most damage against him.

How to Defeat Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame in Elden Ring

Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame is comparatively easier than most of the other DLC bosses. He takes a lot of stagger damage and is fairly methodical in his attacks.

The most worrisome feature of Midra is the delayed but extremely quick attacks. These can be hard to judge and it’s better to use Bloodhound step if you constantly getting hit by them. To fight Midra, you must defeat his base form each time you enter his boss room, which is a fairly easy task as he gets stun-locked easily. Follow the tip below to do so:

How to Fight Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame in Phase 1

Midra is a fairly easy fight if you are patient with your attacks. The easiest way to defeat him is using Spirit Summons to draw away his aggro and then slamming him with jump attacks using heavy weapons to break his aggro.

If you want to defeat Midra solo, then I would suggest using the Bloodhound step to avoid his delayed attacks consistently. During the fight, you need to wait for him to finish his combos, which leaves him open for a few seconds that you can capitalize.

However, make sure to always be ready for Midra’s attacks because he may look slow, but his strikes are extremely quick and hard to judge.

Here are all his attack patterns in phase 1 and how to dodge them:

  • Midra’s Flame of Frenzy: He starts spewing Flames of Frenzy in front of him in a wide range. You can easily time the dodge roll to avoid it.
  • Spinning Attack: Midra will slowly spin twice while moving towards you. The second spin is delayed and sometimes not used. Dodge rolls towards Midra to dodge this attack. Otherwise, use Bloodhound step.
  • Triple attack combo: This is Midra’s base attack combo, where you combos three wide sweeping strikes with each one slightly delayed to put off the player. Wait for the attacks carefully and then dodge all of them. Panic rolling won’t work on this attack. Otherwise, use Bloodhound step to dodge back the first attack and continue sprinting backwards.

How to Fight Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame in Phase 2

After dropping below one-fourth of his HP bar, Midra will use the Flames of Frenzy explosion to light the entire room with flames of frenzy. You can cancel this phase transition by breaking his stagger with jump attacks if you have built up enough stagger damage prior to it.

In phase 2, Midra will imbue most of his normal attack combos with Trail of Frenzy, so you need to stay extra cautious to not step on them.

Other than that, the strategy is the same as phase 1. Let him finish his attack combos and punish him during the brief gaps to defeat Midra.

Here are all his attack patterns in phase 2 and how to dodge them:

  • Flames of Frenzy explosion: Midra will create a small ball of Frenzy, which will explode after a bit doing a lot of damage in a large area. Sprint away from the attack to avoid it.
  • Trail of Frenzy: Midra will coat his sword in the Flames of Frenzy and shoot them toward you, creating a Flame of Frenzy trail. Jump sideways to avoid this attack. If you are close to Midra, then side-roll to avoid his sword as well.
  • Lunging strike: He will lunge at you leaving a trail of frenzied flames behind. Side roll at the moment he lunges and stay away from the trail.
  • Golden Crux: Midra jumps into the air and slams his sword on top of you, piercing you from the inside. If you dodge the first slam, Midra will raise spikes from the ground around the sword. You can time the dodge of the strike and then dodge-roll again to stay clear from the spikes.
