After a magnificent run, Stranger Things has finally come to an end with its Season 5 finale now out. The episode itself was absolutely mind-blowing and concluded many plot points running through the show in some of the best ways possible. However, one of the biggest things fans wanted to see in the upcoming season was a conclusion to Will’s affections towards Mike. While he came out to everyone, including Mike, in the previous episode, did Will ever explicitly tell Mike about his feelings in the Stranger Things Season 5 finale? Let’s find out.
Will’s Coming Out Was His Confession to Mike About His Feelings in Stranger Things

In Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 7, we see that Will finally comes out about being gay to everyone close to him, and while doing so, he explicitly mentions that he is into one of his friends; however, he refrains from revealing who it is.
Recently, PEOPLE had the opportunity to interview the Duffer Brothers, who confirmed that while Will was coming out, Mike understood that he was talking about him. Ross Duffer revealed that the camera being focused on Mike’s face was done with the intent of telling the audience that he understood Will liked Mike. He said-
“That was the intent, Once Will is talking about Tammy and all that and his experience, yeah, it’s Mike and his friends all realizing and understanding now for the first time, even if Mike has been somewhat oblivious over these years, what his friend is saying. He’s clocking what Will felt over the years, It’s about Will understanding who he is and being less fearful and expressing himself to all his friends and family”
Fans were expecting to see a full-fledged confession from Will’s end in the Stranger Things finale, but in my opinion, Mike’s understanding of whatWill felt about him, without an explicit confession, is much more personal and shows how deep their bond goes.
So, while Stranger Things Season 5 did not give us Will and Mike as a romantic couple, they did give us something way more heartfelt and wholesome. What do you guys think about it? Let us know in the comments if, according to you, things should have gone another way or if it was perfect as it is.
