- Fast travel points can be found in the game's major regions and cities.
Crimson Desert has garnered hype for a ton of reasons, but chief among them is arguably the sheer size of its map. That continent of Pywel is bigger than the open-world maps of Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption 2 – two games that are revered for their scale. With that being said, there are obvious pitfalls to such a map size, a key example being traversal. So, learning how to fast travel becomes very important. On that note, here’s everything you need to know about fast travel in Crimson Desert.
Crimson Desert Fast Travel Explained
There are two types of fast travel points in Crimson Desert, namely the Abyss Nexus and Abyss Cresset locations. Both are hidden stone structures that need to be discovered and activated to set up a fast travel point. Depending on the type of structure, you can activate it by completing a puzzle or simply stepping on it.
Once activated, they’ll turn into blue icons on your map, and you’ll be able to teleport there instantly. To zap to the location, just select the icon on your map, double-click, or press Triangle/Y to immediately fast-travel.
While that covers the core fast travel mechanics, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. For starters, the floating Abyss in the sky also has fast travel locations, but these cannot be used by the other playable characters in Crimson Desert. Furthermore, if you’re looking for an early game fast travel point, you can travel to this location in Heranand, which is the first city you’ll visit.
Crimson Desert Mysterious Energy Explained
On opening the map, you’ll be able to spot white search areas with a question mark. These search zones are denoted as Mysterious Energy in Crimson Desert. Look around in the white circle’s radius, and eventually, you’ll find a fast travel point.
To make this process easier, we recommend using your Blinding Flash ability. When you’re in a Mysterious Energy zone, bring up the Blinding Flash and aim it towards the area surrounding you. Eventually, you’ll see glints of light that indicate a point of interest. More often than not, these glints will lead you to a fast travel point in Crimson Desert.
Now, there will be the odd occasions where the Blinding Flash leads you to a different POI. Here’s a rundown of what you’ll run into while chasing Mysterious Energy zones:
- Abyss Nexus: Fast travel points that can be activated simply by stepping on them.
- Abyss Cresset: Fast travel points that require the completion of a mini-trial/puzzle before being activated.
- Sealed Abyss Artifact: Locked cubes that can be added to your inventory. Unravel their mysteries to receive an Abyss Artifact.

Best Fast Travel Methods in Crimson Desert
Outside of the obvious fast travel option, there are a few methods to quickly cover ground while traversing the Crimson Desert map:
- Mounts: Crimson Desert features 29 different mounts, ranging from horses and bears to raptors and dragons. These creatures can drastically speed up travel, especially if you pick the right mount for the terrain in front of you.
- Flying: Whether you’re gliding through the sky using wings or gaining altitude atop a dragon, we highly recommend flying in Crimosn Desert to most faraway locations after you’ve unlocked them.
- Mechs: You won’t receive a missile-firing mech until late in the main story, but once you’ve got it, the robot thrusters can help you gain a ton of altitude and cover ground quickly.
