Captain America is one of the most loved and celebrated superheroes the world has ever seen. He has amassed so much love not just because he is super strong and has a cool shield, but because of the strength of his character and the hope he can bring to people in most dire situations. So, with that being said, Let’s take a look at all Captain America movies in order.

Captain America: The First Avenger was the movie that dawned The MCU into its most successful era. This movie was where we were introduced to Steve Rogers. He is introduced as a little man who has a heart of gold. He enrolls in the military to serve in the World War however, he is selected to be injected with the Super Soldier Serum, and that one moment completely changed his life.

From that point on, Steve Rogers, an absolute nobody, became America’s favorite superhero, Captain America and since then, he has been an integral part of the MCU and the very threat that has been holding the Avengers together.

The Avengers, released in 2012, was the first movie where all the superheroes we have seen individually in their feature films, come together and form the Avengers. Initially, they all had their conflicts and differences but after the apparent death of Phil Coulson, they all found a reason to put their differences aside and come together as a team under the leadership of Captain America against Loki and his forces. This led to a legendary team-up that became the most well-known superhero franchise in the world.

3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

  • Release Date-  4 April 2014

This flick was the second solo movie to be made around Captain America and just when he thought things would finally be okay, his whole world came crashing down. First of all, he encounters the Winter Soldier who turns out to be none other than his presumed dead best friend, Bucky Barnes. Following this, it was revealed that, Hydra has been operating within the ranks of S.H.I.E.L.D. who almost got Nick Fury killed.

This movie is often considered to be the best Captain America movie ever made because of its broad yet well-defined storyline, emotional depth, as well as breathtaking action. Following the events that went down in Captain America The Winter Soldier, Bucky was gradually rehabilitated eventually becoming a member of the Avengers.

4. Avengers: Age Of Ultron

  • Release Date- 1 May, 2015
  • Cast- Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen, James Spader, Paul Bettany, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Claudia Kim, Samuel L. • Director-  Joss Whedon
  • IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes Rating- 7.3/76%

In my opinion, Avengers Age of Ultron had a lot of potential but it was not carried out that well. However, the events of this movie play a huge role in the future of the MCU. This was also the movie where Wanda and Pietro Maximoff were introduced to us. Initially, they were villains but later on decided to join Captain America’s side.

The best part about this movie was the action sequences and it also features the dumbest death of a character I have ever seen on screen, for those not aware I am referring to Quicksilver. So, with that being said, I don’t hate Age of Ultron, but would also not decide to watch it again, but you should you are planning to watch Captain America movies in order.

5. Captain America: Civil War

  • Release Date-  6 May 2016
  • Cast- Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Chadwick Aaron Boseman, Tom Holland, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo
  • Director-  Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
  • IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes Rating7.8/ 90%

If there’s one movie where Marvel messed up big time, it was Captain America: Civil War. This movie was the most poorly put-together flick from the franchise. Even though the movie featured an insane cast, the story, execution, and overall presentation of the movie seem to be put together by a child.

The sole importance of this movie was to create a rift between Captain America and Iron Man which scattered the Avengers just so they could make an epic comeback in Avengers Infinity War. Another important factor of Captain America: Civil War was the introduction of Helmut Zemo who played an important part in future Marvel Projects.

6. Avengers: Infinity War

  • Release Date- 27 April, 2018
  • Cast- Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Mackie, Tom Hiddleston, Don Cheadle, Chris Pratt, Sebastian Stan, Zoe Saldana, Chadwick Aaron Boseman, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper, Benedict Wong, Letitia Wright, Peter Dinklage, Idris Elba, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson, Winston Duke
  • Director-  Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
  • IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes Rating- 8.4/ 85%

Avengers Infinity War was one of the most successful projects Marvel Studios has ever created. This movie was the second last project in the Infinity Saga and pitched the Avengers against MCU’s then-big bad, Thanos. He came to Earth right after killing Loki and before his arrival, The Hulk crash-landed in Doctor Strange’s house warning them that “Thanos is coming”.

Initially, Tony Stark was reluctant to call Cap but when even The Hulk decided not to come out of Bruce Banner, he was left with no choice but to ask for Captain America’s assistance. This movie not only brought the broken bond between the Avengers but was also the first time in the entire Avengers franchise that the heroes lost the battle.

7. Avengers: Endgame

  • Release Date- 26 April 2019
  • Cast- Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Paul Rudd, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Chadwick Aaron Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Chris Pratt, Jon Favreau, Josh Brolin, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tessa Thompson, Tom Hiddleston, Rene Russo, Evangeline Lilly, Benedict Wong, John Slattery, Tilda Swinton, Hayley Atwell, Zoe Saldana, Benedict Cumberbatch, Winston Duke, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Danai Gurira, Dave Bautista, Letitia Wright, Michelle Pfeiffer, Linda Cardellini, Frank Grillo, Ava Russo, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Douglas, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Samuel L. Jackson, Karen Gillan, Emma Fuhrmann
  • Director-  Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
  • IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes Rating- 8.4/ 94%

Avengers Endgame is the most successful movie Marvel has ever created and it has earned this title for good reason. In this movie, the Avengers travel back in time to collect the Infinity Stones again so they can snap everyone lost in Avengers Infinity War back.

However, Thanos from a past timeline traveled to this universe and wreaked havoc on the team. Avengers Endgame features the iconic scene where Captain America lifted Thor’s hammer and challenged Thanos’ entire army with a broken shield.

The central point of this movie might have been Tony Stark’s death but the iconic part of this movie was Steve Rogers turning old and handing over his shield to Sam Wilson crowning him the new Captain America. This movie marked the end of an era with some of the best movies Marvel has ever seen.
