- The OG crew returns in BO7 Zombies.
Black Ops 7 will bring with it the latest iteration of Zombies, which picks up from exactly where BO6 left off. Now set in an expansive open-world setting, BO7 Zombies sees the return of the original crew and offers a much deeper exploration of the Dark Aether. In addition to this, the devs have announced the return of some classic features and also provided a glimpse at the new Wonder Weapons, locations, and much more. With this in mind, here’s everything you need to know about Black Ops 7 Zombies so far.
Black Ops 7 Zombies Map

Black Ops 7 Zombies will deliver the biggest round-based map in franchise history, with smaller Survival maps being released via seasonal updates. Named ‘Ashes of the Damned,’ the Dark Aether-based map takes inspiration from TraZit and features six different locations that can be accessed by your crew.
The eerie environment has been described as an “off-world Bermuda Triangle”, linked to six locations by treacherous and unforgiving roadways teeming with deadly threats. The locations themselves are pretty interesting as well, and some of them are alternate versions of places you probably have seen before. This includes Janus Towers, which was the site of BO6’s final Zombies map, and Farm, which was last seen in Black Ops 2. Here’s a list of every location:
- Janus Towers Plaza
- Ashwood
- Vandorn Farm
- Blackwater Lake
- Exit 115
- Zarya Cosmodrome
To travel to any of the six locations, you’ll need to use the new Wonder Vehicle. Furthermore, all six locations will be released as round-based Survival maps in post-launch updates.
Black Ops 7 Zombies Characters

The classic Zombies crew returns in Black Ops 7, making for a total of eight playable characters, including:
- Tank Dempsey
- Takeo Masaki
- Nikolai Belinski
- Edward Richtofen
- Grigori Weaver
- Elizabeth Grey
- Mackenzie Carver
- Maya Aguinaldo
These eight characters make up the ‘dedicated crew’ members, meaning you’ll experience additional conversations and the richest story if you and your teammates choose from this list of characters. You’re free to mix and match crew members, of course, as the game features unique interactions between each character.
Black Ops 7 Zombies Wonder Vehicle

Navigating the map and the foreboding fog it’s shrouded in is made easy by BO7’s Wonder Vehicle, Ol’ Tessie. The rusty pickup truck can help you get from point A to point B, and while it can withstand a ton of damage, it isn’t invincible. After taking a severe battering, Ol’ Tessie will need to be repaired, but the devs haven’t revealed precisely how to get the car back in shape.
Exploring the map can unlock a series of upgrades for the pickup truck, improving its resistance to damage, among other things. The enhancements themselves include a familiar former bus driver’s head and a mountable DG-2 turret.
Black Ops 7 Zombies Wonder Weapon

Treyarch has confirmed the first new Wonder Weapon in Black Ops 7 Zombies will be the Necrofluid Gauntlet. Upon discovery, the Necrofluid Gauntlet is a black, skull-fanged glove that glows with a bilious greenish hue. This ancient artifact is deadly at both melee and long ranges, its umbral surface veins choked by a viscous liquid that the gauntlet seems to control.
Command the Gauntlet, and the dark liquid can be reshaped into powerful spikes that shoot forth, skewering targets at range before being summoned back into the Gauntlet, inflicting further damage. It is also said to have vampiric tendencies and can pull in items and Power-Ups from a distance.
Black Ops 7 Zombies Dead Ops Arcade

Last seen in 2020’s Black Ops Cold War, Dead Ops Arcade makes its return in BO7 Zombies. Over the years, the tongue-in-cheek easter egg has developed a cult following and evolved into a narrative of its own. ‘Dead Ops Arcade 4: Papaback in Black’ sees the Silverback family return with a vengeance. In their attempts to retrieve Fidolina the chicken from the player, the family will throw every force they’ve got in their ranks.
Players can look forward to hours of its classic top-down, twin-stick action in 20 unique arenas, making for an unprecedented 80 levels of chaos to reach the confrontation with Papaback. On top of this, the mode will also feature 10 bonus rooms, over 10 weapons, and multiple ‘Silverback Challenge’ events. You can also switch to the classic first-person mode if the birds-eye perspective isn’t to your liking.
Black Ops 7 Zombies Modes
Black Ops 7 Zombies will release with four different modes. For a detailed look at new additions, be sure to check out our Black Ops 7 Zombies Modes guide. For now, here’s what you can expect:
- Standard: Classic round-based format with access to the main easter eggs and all side content.
- Directed: Streamlined path through a Zombies map, where clear objectives and guided progression keep you locked on the Main Quest. Directed will arrive sometime after launch.
- Survival: A focused, unfiltered experience based on a small part of Ashes of the Damned at launch. There are no quests, other than you and your squad surviving against the relentless undead for as long as you can.
- Cursed: Take on a new experience featuring some legacy mechanics, with numerous side quests to unearth increasingly potent Relics. Activate these Relics to face harder challenges in exchange for new levels of power, replayability, and rewards.
