Boruto Two Blue Vortex: Who Are Human God Trees?

With Isshiki Otsutsuki’s crushing defeat at the hands of Naruto in the Boruto series, fans questioned who would fill the villainous void he left behind. In his final moments, Isshiki entrusted his will to Code, who vowed to avenge Isshiki’s killers. Naturally, all eyes turned to Code as the next big threat following Isshiki’s steps post time-skip. While he does step into that role, an unexpected group of villains known as Shinju, aka the Human God Trees, has emerged as the dominant evil force in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex series. Keep reading to find who they are, their goals, and much more crucial information about them here.

Once ‘Code’ broke down the Ten-Tails using his claw mark, the remaining portions fused together to give rise to an evolved reincarnation of the Kara’s Ten-Tails called Jura. He is the first human god tree to rise from the tailed beast. Hence, Shinju, aka Human God Trees, are the advanced version of Claw Grimes, who are sentient unlike their predecessors.

They are led by their first awakened humanoid being, Jura. Currently, five Human God Tree beings have been awakened in the story, and they are as follows:

  • Jura – Evolved directly from the tailed beast and acts as the leader of the group.
  • Hidari – Awakened after Sasuke Uchiha was trapped in a tree.
  • Mamushi – Born after consuming one of the outers from Kara, Bug.
  • Matsuri – Given life after a claw grime devoured Moegi Kazamatsuri and turned her into a tree.
  • Ryu – Spawned using a Thorn Bulb when a claw grime ate Shinki.

How Did Claw Grimes Evolve Into Human God Trees?

Remember the Claw Grimes from Kara’s Ten Tails using Code’s claw mark? When these claw grimes devour any person, the respective person falls unconscious and turns into a tree. This tree summons an evolved humanoid creature that eerily resembles the victim it consumed. And it doesn’t stop there; the god tree also inherits the victim’s powers and abilities as the tree absorbed the victim’s chakra completely. Unlike the original claw Grimes, these evolved creatures are self-aware and intelligent beings.

According to Boruto, Code’s White Kama is the reason behind the evolution of his claw grimes. After being awakened, these human god trees’ instinct drives them to devour their targeted otsutsuki and become a ‘complete god tree’. Hence, these are the current targets of each God Tree in the Boruto TBV story:

  • Jura targets Naruto and Himawari Uzumaki
  • Hidari targets Sarada Uchiha
  • Mamushi targets Ada
  • Matsuri targets and is romantically interested in Konohamaru Sarutobi
  • Ryu targets Gara

However, in recent chapters, these human god trees suppressed their hunting instincts and are seen having a genuine sense of wonder. Especially Jura, who is eager to learn more about this world dominated by ninjas. Now that’s what makes them a unique set of antagonists we have come across in the Naruto universe. They have a terrifying presence and appear as fascinating characters to explore further at the same time.

Human God Trees: Powers and Abilities

What’s interesting about these Human God Trees is the fact that they are more powerful than the one who triggered their evolution, Code. Each God Tree possesses incredible levels of strength, moves and flies at unreal speeds, and has rapid regeneration. Apart from physical abilities, they also possess some unique power-ups as the incarnation of Ten-Tails, such as:

  • They are granted the Rinnegan at birth.
  • They are in control of their claw marks.
  • Capable of unleashing a Tailed Beast Ball.
  • The Ten-Tails cells also enable them to perform Wood Release.
  • Recreate the devoured person’s ninja techniques (but there are certain limitations).

What is the Weakness of Human God Trees in Boruto?

The Human God Tree Clones may appear as all-powerful beings who can’t be defeated at first, but they do have some weaknesses that our heroes can exploit in their fights. You must have already observed that knocking out a shinju clone will result in their Thorn Soul Bulb dropping to the ground. Mamushi was seen warning Jura that they need to resurrect Hidari fast before his bulb begins to rot. This hints at Thorn Soul Bulb getting automatically erased from existence if not used to revive the clone quickly.

It turns out that the God Tree Clones are very similar to humans, as Jura remarked that they also have emotions during Matsuri’s interaction with Konohomaru. Experiencing emotions can make anyone vulnerable; these clones are no exception, as there is always the possibility of becoming unsettled by someone or something. Therefore, the same vulnerability as humans could sow the seeds to Shinju clones’ downfall in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.

That’s everything we know about the Human God Trees in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex so far. This group of villains reminds me of the fearsome Akatsuki group from the Naruto series. The God Trees are shaping up to be a menacing and formidable set of villains in Boruto, and we can’t wait to learn more about them in the upcoming chapters. In the meantime, let us know your opinions about the Human God Trees in the comments below.
