Kishimoto sensei’s revival of the Boruto series has made Boruto: Two Blue Vortex one of the best-selling manga in Shonen Jump. Boruto’s story is gradually introducing new twists and becoming an unpredictable journey, unlike anything you have ever experienced. When fans learned that Kurama could make a comeback in Chapter 8, they went bananas. And now, with the release of Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 9, titled Nine Tails, Kishimoto has brought the beloved nine-tailed beast from the dead. So, is Kurama returning at last?
It all started when the Shinju clones Hidari and Jura sensed a tailed beast’s chakra (the Nine-Tailed Fox’s) in Konoha. However, it was impossible as Kurama passed away in the battle against Isshiki, and Naruto was trapped inside Daikokuten. But, in a series of unexpected events, it was revealed that the bijū chakra was emanating from Naruto’s daughter, Himawari Uzumaki.
As a result, the focus of the two God Tree beings shifted to Himawari as they wanted to capture and devour her. In chapter 9, we see Himawari entering the place known as the Mental World, where Jinchūriki and their tailed beast can communicate with each other. This is proof that Himawari is a Jinchūriki, as the conditions to enter the Mental World require the user to be one. It also requires a complete connection between the Biju (tailed beast) and the respective human is required.
As we enter this familiar plane, as we’ve seen multiple times with Naruto, we get to meet a mini-version of Kurama along with Himawari. Based on the dialogue between the tiny version of the Nine-Tailed Beast and Himawari, we can see that it has been hiding inside her for some time now.
It further asked Himawari, “Little girl, do you know who I am?” So, if you are wondering, is this the same Kurama we have known for decades, or is it a completely new tailed beast? Well, we too have a similar doubt and will have to wait a whole month to find out the answer in chapter 10.
You can read the latest chapter 9 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex on Shueisha’s Manga Plus and Viz Media’s Shonen Jump. The Boruto fandom has already started to celebrate the return of Kurama. Do you remember, we have already seen a painting of Kurama in episode 93 of the Boruto anime? Was it foreshadowing by the animators or just a coincidence?
