Vex is the designated Siren in Borderlands 4, and she might just be the most versatile witch in franchise history. Despite wielding the same supernatural phase energy as other Sirens, Vex can feel more like Fl4K, the Beastmaster from Borderlands 3. This is because she can summon minions to fight to aid her in battle, and she can also empower herself to make dealing with mobs easier. So, if you’re looking for the ideal direction to take your Siren build towards, here’s our best Vex build in Borderlands 4.
Best Borderlands 4 Vex Build

- Primary Skill Tree: Vexcalation
- Action skill: Incarnate
- Damage Type: Kinetic
Our Vex build in Borderlands 4 is tailored for a max-level character, so keep that in mind while selecting your Augments and Action Skills.
The build is heavy on Kill Skills that can constantly empower Vex, but this means that there’s no summoning involved. Our favored damage type is Kinetic, which also induces a bleed effect, so you’ll mainly be running Jakobs pistols and shotguns. With all the skills in place, you’ll be popping heads and dealing ridiculous damage at all times, while constantly buffing Vex for an endless rampage.
At the heart of the build is the Incarnate Action Skill, which can be triggered to restore Vex’s health and deal damage to enemies. The phase explosion orb that pops into her off-hand can also be thrown to dish out damage while boosting her movement speed. Your aim should be to activate Incarnate at all times, something that is made easier by the Full Moon skill, which boosts Action Skill cooldown rate while your shields are intact.
To go along with Incarnate, we’ve opted for skills that boost Kinetic damage, with examples being Bloodletter, Material Components, and Leechine Attunement, which also grants lifesteal. To amp up that fire rate, we highly recommend picking Drink Full, which can stack for a total of 50. Also, be sure to pick up Mortal Terror, which gives you a chance at triggering Kill Skills after inflicting critical hits on enemies.
With all that said, here’s how your skill point allotment should look like:
Skill Name | Points | Description |
---|---|---|
Incarnate (Action Skill) | – | Vex creates a phase explosion, dealing damage to nearby enemies and fully restoring her health. While active, Vex can cast Eldritch Blast and gain increased movement speed. Hold the action skill button to end Incarnate early, partially refunding cooldown. |
Guns and Needles | 3/3 | Kill Skill: Restore Repkit Cooldown by a Percentage |
Leeching Attunement | 5/5 | Attune Skill: While Vex is attuned to kinetic, she gains increased lifesteal and reload speed. The effect persists for a duration after attunement is switched. |
Bloodletter | 5/5 | Gun and skill critical hits have a chance to apply bleed, causing kinetic status effect damage over time for a short duration. Bleed is affected by status effect application chance and is considered a status effect. |
Geistwave | – | Augment: Instead of launching a Phase Explosion, Vex launches a Geistwave, dealing Ordanance damage to enemies it passes through. Each affected enemy takes increased damage for a duration. |
Energy Vampire | – | Augment: Vex deals status effect damage to nearby enemies over time and gains overshield for each enemy affected. |
Material Components | 5/5 | Passive: Vex gains increased kinetic damage and kinetic status effect damage. |
Conjunction | 5/5 | Passive: Vex gains increased gun damage the more her shield and gains damage reduction the less her health. |
Iron Maiden | – | Augment: Phase Explosion and Eldritch Blast restore Shield for each enemy hit and deal increased damage based on Vex’s current shield. |
Witchy Trigger Finger | – | Augment: Dealing damage with Eldritch Blast or Phase Explosion will reload Vex’s current gun and grant a stack of Witchy Trigger Finger, increasing gun damage for a short duration. Stacks persist even after Incarnate ends. |
Grave Vitality | – | Kill Skill: Vex gains increased maximum health capacity and health regeneration. |
Grave Harverst | – | Augment: Killing an enemy while Incarnate is active will trigger a Soul Orb that deals Status Effect Damage over time to enemies for a duration. Soul Orbs can be detonated to deal Ordenance damage. |
Essence Leech | 5/5 | Vex gains Lifesteal. Effect is doubled when an Action Skill is active. |
Mortal Terror | 5/5 | Chance to trigger Kill Skills when Critically Hitting enemies. |
Full Moon | 5/5 | Passive: Vex gains Action Skill Cooldown rate and Ordenance Cooldown rate based on the fullness of her Shield. |
A Deeper Grave | 3/3 | Passive: Vex’s Kill Skills gain increased duration |
Blood is Power | 3/3 | Passive: Vex gains Bonus Kinetic Damage with Guns based on Lifesteal when her Health is full. |
Ars Arcana | 5/5 | Vex gains increased Skill Damage. |
Be on the lookout for class mods that boost skills in Vexcalation tree, with an emphasis on Grave Harverst, Iron Maiden, and Energy Vampire.
