Call of Duty Black Ops 7 was packed with 30 weapons at launch, with more being added at a regular cadence. But only some of these guns are worthy of being labeled as meta, so you’re bound to find a majority of players running the same loadouts. This is for good reason too, as some guns are clearly superior when it comes to firepower and TTK. With this in mind, we’ve put together the best weapons in Black Ops 7 along with their meta attachments in this guide.
1. M15 Mod 0 – Best Gun in Black Ops 7
- Muzzle: VAS 5.56 Suppressor
- Barrel: 16.5″ Fusion Barrel
- Underbarrel: Ironhold Angled Grip
- Rear Grip: Contour Grip
- Stock: Wander-3V Stock
The M15 Mod 0 was virtually unbeatable during the early days of Black Ops 7. Its unmatched combination of accuracy and fire rate saw it ascend to the top of the meta. And despite enduring a few nerfs, it still remains the best gun in the game. What stands out immediately about the weapon is its versatility, allowing you to beam enemies across nearly every range. Make sure to equip the meta attachments listed above for the best results.
2. MXR-17 – Mid-Range Meta
- Optic: Lethal Tools ELO
- Muzzle: Redwell 7.62 Brake
- Barrel: 18” Rift-M7 Barrel
- Underbarrel: Sentry Pro Handle
- Magazine: Vault Extended Mag
- Rear Grip: Aria Assail Grip
- Stock: Gait-Lux Stock
- Fire Mods: Recoil Sync Unit
Black Ops 7’s MXR-17 might not be the full meta, but it’s certainly a mid-range beast. It comes with excellent accuracy and range, offset by its more modest mobility and rate of fire. Its recoil can take some getting used to, but once you’ve got it nailed down, the AR is extremely effective at medium-range engagements. The slow fire rate also means it’s more forgiving than the meta Peacekeeper.
3. Dravec 45 – Best SMG in the Black Ops 7
- Optic: Lethal Tools ELO
- Muzzle: Hawker Stabilizer MK. II
- Barrel: 18” Jetstream Barrel
- Rear Grip: QuikArm Grip
- Fire Mods: Acclerated Recoil System
Rapid rate of fire, best-in-class range, and excellent stability – all the traits needed for a top-tier SMG. This is precisely what Black Ops 7’s Dravec 45 offers in spades, so it’s no surprise that it enjoys an exceptionally high pick rate. Every second player you run into is more than likely to carry the Dravec, and frankly, you should too.
While its fire rate may be the lowest in its class, it still feels quick enough for all sorts of combat scenarios. Where the SMG truly shines is at mid-range combat, where its advanced accuracy will give you the edge over most other weapons. It’s not flawless, of course, since it can’t match up to the Ryden 45K in CQB, but that’s a shortcoming worth overlooking.
4. M8A1 – One-Burst Destroyer
- Optic: Lethal Tools ELO
- Muzzle: VAS 5.56 Suppressor
- Barrel: 21” Frontline Barrel
- Underbarrel: Envoy Foregrip
- Fire Mods: Buffer Spring
The M8A1’s four-round bursts hit like a truck, capable of flooring enemies with direct headshots up to 30 meters. Even if you cannot hit the sweet spot, two body shots almost always do the trick, which really sums up how reliable the weapon is. When fitted with the meta attachments, it’s also extremely stable while firing.
Mid to long-range engagements with the marksman rifle feel like a breeze, although CBQ is definitely uncomfortable. While putting together a class for this weapon, be sure to check out the best Perks in our BO7 M8A1 loadout guide.
5. Peacekeeper MK1 – High TTK Assault Rifle
- Optic: Lethal Tools ELO
- Muzzle: K&S Brake-2B
- Barrel: 21” DF-3 Merge Barrel
- Underbarrel: EAM Steady-90 Grip
- Magazine: Vulcan Reach Extension
- Rear Grip: Kinetic-Mk1 Grip
- Stock: Swift-B Guard Stock
- Fire Mods: Buffer Spring
The Peacekeeper, last seen in Black Ops 4, is back with a vengeance in BO7. It boasts an exceptional fire rate, paired with best-in-class mobility and handling, instantly making it one of the fastest-killing guns in the game. With that said, your first few sessions using the weapon are likely to be uncomfortable since it runs out of bullets way too quickly while also having strong vertical recoil.
These issues can easily be addressed by equipping the attachment mentioned above, but you will have to level up the gun quite a bit. Nevertheless, the grind is certainly worth it because the Peacekeeper MK1 is among the best assault rifles in the game.
6. Shadow SK – Best Sniper in Black Ops 7
Just like the SVD from Black Ops 6, a semi-auto Sniper rifle has wasted no time in establishing its dominance in Black Ops 7. The Shadow SK packs a boatload of power in each shot and pairs it with excellent recoil. The only downside here is a brief halt between each shot, despite the semi-auto fire rate, but in most cases, you’ll need one bullet to take down enemies. The Sniper is viable across all maps and capable of dominating matches with ease.
7. X9 Maverick – Versatile Assault Rifle
Burst weapons can be an acquired taste, but when they’re as good as the X9 Maverick, you’re forced to take note. Just like the M8A1, this burst Assault Rifle packs quite the punch, meaning you eviscerate enemies no matter the distances. With that said, leveling up the Maverick is a true test of persistence, as it starts out incredibly weak. However, once all the attachments are in place, you’re looking at a proper meta contender.
8. MK.78 – Dependable and Accurate LMG
- Muzzle: Bowen Modulator 7.62
- Barrel: 20” Titan Hybrid
- Underbarrel: Parallel Foregrip
- Magazine: Swift Feed Fast Belt
- Rear Grip: Trailblaze Grip
- Stock: Charon Light Stock
- Laser: Convergence Box Laser
- Fire Mod: 7.62 NATO Overpressured
The MK.78 feels hefty yet swift, even in its stock variant. Once you slap on a few attachments, the LMG’s fire rate and firepower come to life, allowing you to win most gunfights comfortably. The gun also boasts excellent accuracy and stability, which makes it accessible for beginners looking for a reliable weapon to invest their time into.
To get an early feel for MK.78, make sure to try out the starter build in the default loadout section, and you’ll understand exactly why we’re singing its praises.
9. Warden 308 – One-Shot Marksman Rifle
- Optic: EAM Dyad XL
- Muzzle: LTI-LM Brake
- Barrel: 16.2” Artemis-01 Barrel
- Rear Grip: LTI Tyrannis Grip
- Laser: 5mw Lockstep Laser
The Warden 308, previously named the ‘Outlaw’ in Black Ops 4, has returned with a bang in the latest entry in the franchise. While technically being a Marksman rifle, the Warden hits like a Sniper and can decimate enemies at mid-range with a single shot to the chest. Its semi-automatic fire rate also makes it easier to rack up kills in quick succession, provided you master its second-shot kick.
Admittedly, the weapon was a tad broken at launch, which is precisely has received some significant nerfs. As a result, it lands in the bottom half of our rankings.
10. Akita – Close-range Meta
- Muzzle: Akita Full-Bore 12
- Barrel: 14” Retriever Hunt Barrel
- Underbarrel: Strider Handstop
- Magazine: Shell Carrier Extended 1
- Stock: MFS GD-7 Shock Stock
While we’re on the subject of broken weapons, the Akita Shotgun continues to be an absolute menace in Black Ops 7. Despite its compact frame, the gun has an absurd amount of power, coupled with an insane fire rate, that lets you clean house with incredible ease. It’s BO7’s ultimate super-strafer at the moment, built for players who enjoy running and gunning through maps and getting up close and personal against enemies.
