When it comes to an action-adventure game like Death Stranding 2, you know there will be a range of weapons to choose from. While the original game had fewer combat options, Death Stranding 2 amps up the fighting with all kinds of options. However, sometimes it can be a little confusing. And the problem is exaggerated when you’re expected to spare humans but can freely eliminate BTs. To help you get rid of that bent eyebrow, we’ve compiled a list of the best weapons in Death Stranding 2.
Note: Our DS2 weapons ranked list is based on their usability and power, which will make your adventure much easier.
17. Tranq Sniper Rifle

Let us start with the least exciting gun that sometimes can be fun. The Tranq Sniper Rifle uses non-lethal bullets that neutralize humans. This is perfect for the game’s mechanics, where killing humans can cause massive disasters. The advantage of the sniper rifle is the range advantage it provides you. Remember, this weapon does not work against mechs or BTs.
16. Rubber Pizza

Next up, my favorite weapon? Well, you can call it a pizza, but as a Hitman fan, I love this kind of item. Filling full? Just whip out your pizza and throw it toward a human enemy. If the Pizza hits their head, it instantly knocks them out. It even works on the most heavily armored enemies.
15. Blood Boomerang

The Blood Boomerang is a two-edged sword; I mean, boomerang in Death Stranding. It is one of the best silent weapons to defeat BTs in the game, thanks to the blood effect. You can increase this weapon’s damage by loading more blood.
Moreover, its ability to stun humans makes it a reliable covert operation weapon. When you are in a 1-on-1 situation, just stun an enemy with the boomerang and let your punches show them who the boss of the beach is. Well, only when Sam has enough blood to use it.
14. MP Grenade

The MP grenades are good against any enemy to tickle them. Trust me on this: the damage from these grenades will not work against some armored human enemies or powerful BTs. Sure, they can explode and create a little knocking effect. But if you want to use a grenade, the blood version is ten times better in the game.
13. Smoke Grenade

If you want a more stealthy option, the Smoke Grenade is a solid weapon in Death Stranding 2. No, it is not another offensive item from the list of weapons. Instead, it creates a cloud of smoke, just like a normal smoke grenade in any other game. But if you want to avoid any conflict with the Watcher BTs in this game, this is the only tool that will protect you from their attention.
12. Bola Gun

Stealth with the smokes can be good against Watchers, but other BTs and humans will always locate you when you are nearby. To avoid those conflicts, the Bola Gun is one of the best weapons you can use in Death Stranding 2. You can use it to knock down both BTs and human enemies. Although it does not work on mechs, its effectiveness against humans and BTs while in covert missions is unparalleled.
11. Dog Mine

The Dog Mines are one of the fun weapons to get rid of humans and mechs in Death Stranding 2. Once you deploy these landmines, the canine-shaped mechs can detect and run toward human or mech enemies. When in close proximity, these Dog Mines can electrocute humans or destroy mech enemies instantly. You can deploy up to eight Dog Mines at once, but they can’t detect BTs, which makes these mines pointless against the horrific enemies.
10. Machine Gun (MP) Lv2

If you want to neutralize targets, the machine gun lacks enough damage. But that doesn’t take any points away from this weapon. One of the main reasons behind this is the ammo capacity of the machine gun. You can go all guns blazing with this weapon and forget about reloading often. And it works against all types of enemies, which is ideal for it to be your primary equipment, at least in the mid to late game.
9. Grenade Launcher (MP)

If you want mayhem against the BTs and mechs, the Grenade Launcher is one of the best weapons. This weapon deals enormous damage that can one-shot most of the enemy types in Death Stranding 2. There’s also a remote detonation version of the launcher, which blasts the grenade when you trigger it. However, that’s all this gun does.
If you compare it to the upgraded assault rifle or level 2 shotgun, they provide their default fire while having an attachment that fires the same MP grenade. Hence, you can opt for the hybrid gun later in the game.
8. Grenade Pistol (MP)

What’s much easier than holding a grenade launcher? A mini-version of it, or in this case, the Grenade Pistol. This one is a perfect weapon against all types of enemies while just being a secondary gun. The grenades still pack the punch you expect from it, while being much faster to equip and reload. It is quite handy!
7. Floating Sentry Gun

One of the hardest things to do in Death Stranding 2 is being a porter and a combat god at the same time. Luckily, there is a wingman for you. Use the Floating Sentry Gun to fight beside you, which can take out all humans and mechs it detects. Deploy up to four sentry guns and let them handle business; just beware, they cannot tackle the BTs.
6. SL-LW Assault Rifle (MP)

Whether you are fighting the BTs, humans, or a mech, an assault rifle always comes in handy. However, it is even better when your fully automatic rifle shoots without creating noise. In a game where making noise is almost a crime, a silent weapon like the SL-LW Assault Rifle can be ideal. Just when you need some chaos, use the MP bullet grenade launcher like your wingman.
5. LW Shotgun (MP) Lv2

Once you are toward the endgame, the assault rifle’s damage will feel like a crab pinch on the high-armor enemies. That’s where the LW Shotgun level 2 comes in. The lightweight variant makes the shotgun much easier to carry. But it does not compromise on the damage. Not only does it deal more damage to all sorts of enemies, but it also has superior stopping power. And you get an MP grenade launcher attached for some nasty bombardment when required.
4. Blood Grenade

Despite being one of the early weapons in Death Stranding 2, the Blood Grenade is extremely powerful. It comes with a blood cloud effect upon detonation. So, whenever you throw it at a BT, it will deal lingering damage to them while obscuring their vision. As you can keep the grenade in your pouch, it always comes in handy in all kinds of fights.
3. EX Capture Grenade

Want the taste of Elden Ring summons in Death Stranding 2? The EX Capture Grenade is the best throwable in the game. When a catcher BT is weakened, you can throw the grenade to produce a BT crystal. You can later use the crystal to summon a BT that will fight for you. Unfortunately, the crystal only works in BT areas. But as the catchers are one of the strongest BTs in the game, you will need these a lot in the endgame.
2. Rocket Launchers

The Quadruple Rocket Launcher is one of the endgame weapons that is a must to kill all kinds of BTs and mechs. When you shoot this weapon, it creates a cloud of blood that is ideal for dealing with BTs. However, the weapon is not ideal for use against human enemies, as killing them can cause a necrosis event.
Want something even better? The Multilock Rocket Launcher is a rocket launcher, but with a lock-on system. This is helpful when you are fighting multiple enemies or big boss BTs. The guided missiles are strong and create a cloud of blood. The blood formula is crucial in defeating the BTs in the game.
1. Battle Guitar

In a classic Kojima fashion, the numero uno place goes to the Battle Guitar. This weapon covers all aspects, from BTs to humans and the mechs. While in ranged mode, it shoots golden projectiles as you finger your way into some classic tunes to lethally take down BTs and mechs.
Want to take down humans without incurring the necrosis event? Just go into melee mode and bonk the human heads in an iconic Guitar Hero fashion. Battle Guitar is overpowered and the overall best weapon in Death Stranding 2.
These are all the best weapons you should get and use in Death Stranding 2. Which one are you using on the beach? Let us know in the comments below!
