Weapons in Action RPGs are essential, and Elden Ring leaves no stone unturned. Not only are there multiple choices for people to select a weapon, but each also behaves and plays differently. Alas, with many choices arises the problem of deciding what weapons to use in-game. After all, each weapon suits a particular playstyle, and each of them has different statistics tied to them. With that said, we have compiled a list of the best weapons in Elden Ring for players to try.
Elden Ring developer FromSoftware ensures that newcomers and fans of its previous titles receive a variety of choices for weapons. That said, here are some of our favorite weapons from Elden Ring.

Considered a well-rounded early-mid-game weapon, it allows users to deal damage with the Reduvia Blood Blade skill, which sends flying projectiles toward enemies, building their blood loss.
Use this skill to attack an enemy from behind for quick blood loss and crit damage. The weapon scales well with the Dexterity and Arcane classes, so players experimenting with these skills can reap the benefits of the dagger.

Darkmoon Greatsword has a rich history behind it, seeing how this sword has appeared in almost every FromSoftwar RPG in one shape or form as a playable weapon with brilliant stats attached to it. Known as the Moonlight Greatsword in other titles, the Darkmoon Greatsword requires a base stat of 16 Strength, 11 Dexterity, and 38 Intelligence for players to wield it.
The Darkmoon Greatsword becomes a formidable weapon when players properly level up, allowing them to send projectiles that deal frost build-up and deals impressive damage at higher levels.
Obtaining the greatsword is also a feat, as it requires players to play through Ranni’s questline in Elden Ring, which is a complex storyline with various objectives. It is worth pointing out that the Darkmoon Greatsword is a mid-late game weapon and performs quite well only in the late game.

Much like Darkmoon Greatsword, players get this later in the game after completing the Volcano Manor questline, which pits them against Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.
Blasphemous Blade is for players focusing on a faith build alongside Strength, as both stats are crucial for bringing out the best of this weapon. Furthermore, the sword outshines when specific talismans are used, which buffs fire damage and overall damage.

Bloodhound Fangs deal 141 damage on hit, which scales as players keep leveling up. Additionally, successive slash builds the bleed damage on an enemy, with high damage output as a payoff.

It requires players to have 18 Strength and 12 Dexterity and scales well with both Strength and Dexterity stats. Dropped by the Skeleton Mages across the maps, the weapon deals a whopping 144 damage on hit, requiring a modest 17 Strength and 13 Dexterity to use it. Hitting an enemy with it helps in Bloodloss build-up on them, and Spinning Slash further helps. Another great reason to use Grave Scythe is that the weapon increases vitality by 35. However, the Scyther requires a lot of Endurance to wield since this is the heaviest Scyther available in the game.
Halo Scythe
- Where to Get It: Drops from Scythe-wielding Lesser Cleanrot Knight, south of Heart of Aeonia.

While the weapon scales with Strength and Dexterity, its skill, called Miquella’s Ring of Light, only scales with Faith. The player swings the scythe to cast Miquella’s Ring of Light, launching a bright halo that deals damage. The halo, however, does not track enemies when they are moving. However, Urumi is best used when pairing it up with another whip or armament, acting well as a backup weapon.

Another great whip to use alongside other weapons, the Thorned Whip, as the name suggests, is a thorn-covered weapon that deals bleed damage on hit. Thorned Whip builds bleed damage, dealing 102 damage per hit, and since it is a Dexterity-based weapon, players require 16 Dexterity along with 8 Strength to use it. The great thing about Thorned Whip is its speed, helping build bleed damage from a distance and, in the process, subduing enemies.

- Where to Get It: Dropped by Lesser Bloodhound Knight in Volcano Manor at Mt Gelmir.
- Base Physical Damage: 94

While doing so in real-life is not possible, Elden Ring does give players the option through Bloodhound Claws. Bloodhound Claws is a bladed weapon that players wear on their hand, deals bleed damage on enemies, and lives up to its name, thanks to its ability to perform quick successive attacks. Wielding it is also not an issue, requiring only 10 Strength and 15 Dexterity. Damage-wise, Bloodhound Claws falters a bit because of 94 physical damage. However, Bloodhound’s Step, its weapon skill, makes up for it, allowing players to dash in and out of situations.

Hookclaw has 89 physical damage upon hit and has a modest 8 Strength and 14 Dexterity requirement. The Hookclaw scales exceptionally well with the Dexterity stat and, like Bloodhound Claws, outshines players preferring a faster playstyle.

- Where to Get It: After defeating Renalla and exchanging the Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen.
- Base Physical Damage: 24

- Critical Damage: 100
- Boosts full-moon sorceries and scales exceptionally well with Intelligence.
Carian Regal Scepter is the first choice for players who want to use staff with exceptional damage scaling on Intelligence. However, using this weapon requires players to invest a lot of time in upgrading their Intelligence. Carian Regal Scepter requires players to have 8 points in Strength, 10 in Dexterity, and 60 in Intelligence. The staff does sorcery damage of 162, which goes higher with the scaling and upgrading. A late-game weapon, it offers the most damage through sorcery compared to any other staff available in the title. Requiring players to invest 10 points in Strength and 52 in Intelligence, Lusat’s Glinstone Staff buffs the damage output of every sorcery when leveled up to +3 using Somber Smithing Stone. Leveling it up to +10 shows the true potential of the staff. Lusat’s Glinstone Staff deals 179 sorcery damage when not upgraded and consumes a lot of FP to cast.
Best Sacred Seals
Finger Seal
- Where to Get It: Purchasable from the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold.
- Base Physical Damage: 25
- Incantation base damage: 114
- Critical Damage: 100
Incantations in Elden Ring are one of the best alternatives for players who want to dabble into sorceries, and Finger Seal helps do that. An early-game weapon that is easily upgradable, Finger Seal does not provide any buff to any Incantations. So why suggest it? Finger Seal allows players who don’t want to invest their time in leveling up Faith to use the many usable Incantations, thanks to its low usage requirement. It is also a preferred seal alongside another weapon, making the Incantations a support tool. Finger Seal requires 10 Strength and 14 Faith to equip and is the starting weapon for the Confessor and Prophet class.
Godslayer’s Seal
- Where to Get It: Stormveil Castle, near Rampart Towers area. Exit the courtyard with archers via the Feasting Halls and take a hard left.

Another seal that players can acquire early-game in the Stormveil Castle, Godslayer’s Seal, increases every Godslayer Incantation damage by 10%, one of the few great Incantations in the game for Faith-based players to use. Using the Seal requires some additional work from the user, with a 4 Strength and 24 Faith requirement.
Best Colossal Weapons
Giant Crusher
- Where to Get It: In a chest sitting on the back of a Carriage south of Outer Wall Phantom Site of Grace.
- Base Physical Damage: 155
- Critical Damage: 100
- Allows tuning with Ash of Wars.
One of the heftiest weapons in Elden Ring, the Giant Crusher is a colossal hammer that players can acquire in the game. However, using it requires a lot of stat tuning, making it a mid-late-game weapon but a great one if players want pure-strength weapons. Requiring only 60 Strength, the Giant Hammer swings slowly but outputs high-scoring damage with every swing.
Additionally, its Weapon skill Endure allows its users to receive less damage from oncoming enemies, making up for its slow wind-up time. A great thing about Giant Crusher is that players can tune it with the best Ashes of War in the game, opening the weapon up to every type of playstyle a gamer prefers.
Prelate’s Inferno Crozier
- Where to Get It: Dropped by a Fire Prelate in Fort Laiedd.
- Base Physical Damage: 156
- Critical Damage: 100
- It has a distinctive R2 attack with its animation. Allows Ash of War infusion.
Prelate’s Inferno Crozier is what many consider one of the greatest colossal weapons in Elden Ring and one of the flashier weapons in the game, thanks to its unique R2 attack that swings enemies up in mid-air to attack. Outside of that, Prelate’s Inferno Crozier is a standard Strength-based weapon that deals high-number damage to enemies with every hit.
It requires users to invest 45 in Strength and 8 in Dexterity, dealing 156 damage and scaling well with Strength and Dexterity as players keep leveling up. Another great feature of this weapon is its allowance of Ashes of War infusion.
Ghiza’s Wheel
- Where to Get It: Dropped by Inquisitor Ghiza
- Base Physical Damage:
- Critical Damage:
Ghiza’s Wheel is a more medieval-fantasy approach to Bloodborne’s Whirligig Saw, which comes as no surprise seeing nearly every item from past From Software Soulsborne games made an appearance in Elden Ring. This is a colossal weapon that requires users to have 28 Strength and 18 Dexterity to wield it, dealing 156 base damage to enemies.
While many better weapons are available, Ghiza’s Wheel helps in blood loss build-up and is one of the few colossal weapons to do that. Additionally, the weapon skill “Spinning Wheel” attack makes it such that every player should try it at least once. Here, it starts spinning the blade wheels and allowing users to walk while doing so.
Elden Ring allows users to equip and use the weapons regardless of whether a player meets the required attributes. Except for magic-based weapons like staffs and incantations, players can equip any weapon. The downside is that the armament will not deal enough damage and require more stamina.
If a player needs a weapon that drops after killing an enemy, the best way to increase the chances of the drop is to eat a Pickled Fowl Finger before they injure the enemy. Pickled Fowl Finger increases the item’s discoverability chances for a brief moment, increasing the chances of the enemy dropping the weapon.
