Deck Strategy
The core strategy of Mega Absol EX and Pom-Pom Oricorio Deck involves stalling your opponent. Pom-Pom Oricorio is a very strong option against EX cards, as it blocks the damage. You can also use Pichu at turn 1 to set up your Oricorio and Darkrai.
Darkrai can deal some damage to the opponent’s active Pokemon, each time you attach a Dark energy to it. Pichu and Darkrai can be a deadly combo and deal quite a lot of damage, and can be swapped into the active spot to attack. Professor’s Research and Poke Ball are used to draw cards. Cyrus can be used to sneakily switch your opponent’s active Pokemon with a benched one who has already taken damage. This way you can deal the final blow and take a point.
Lastly, Mega Absol EX will play the role of the finisher, cleaning the leftovers of Darkrai EX and Oricorio. It can deal 80 damage per turn, which might be very little. However, your opponent reveals their hand, and you can discard one of their support cards. You can also use Mega Absol EX early to remove their key supporters. But make sure to keep your Absol healthy by continuously healing with the Pokemon Center Lady card.
2. Mega Absol EX Hydreigon Deck
Required Cards
You need 20 cards for the Mega Absol EX and Hydreigon Deck, and the best options are listed below:
- 2 Mega Absol EX
- 2 Deino
- 2 Hydreigon
- 1 Zwelious
- 2 Rare Candy
- 2 Pokeball
- 2 Professor’s Research
- 1 Red Trainer Card
- 1 Red Item Card
- 1 Pokemon Center Lady
- 1 Cyrus
- 1 Mars
- 1 Giant Cape
- 1 Dark Pendant
Deck Strategy
Mega Absol EX Hydreigon Deck uses Hydreigon as the main damage dealer, and Mega Absol EX as the finisher. You can also start the turn with Mega Absol EX and discard your opponent’s support cards, while setting up your Hydreigon. You can also attach a Dark Pendant to your Absol, if you have any.
Hydreigon is one of the best non-EX cards in the game, due to its high damage. Try to draw a Deino as early as possible, with Poke Ball or Professor’s Research. You can use Zwellious to evolve Deino, or use a Rare Candy if you have Hydreigon in your hand. Use Mars and Cyrus to break the momentum of your opponent. Use Giant Cape for more HP and use Pokemon Center Lady to heal a Pokemon, depending on the situation.
3. Mega Absol EX Nihilego Deck
Required Cards
Here are 20 cards that are the most suitable for the Mega Absol EX and Pom-Pom Oricorio deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket:
- 2 Mega Absol EX
- 2 Nihilego
- 2 Deino
- 2 Hydreigon
- 2 Pokeball
- 2 Professor’s Research
- 2 Rare Candy
- 2 Poison Barb
- 1 Red Item Card
- 1 Pokemon Center Lady
- 1 Cyrus
- 1 May
Deck Strategy
This is a Dark and Poison deck that focuses on Nihilego’s poison ability. You can start your turn with Nihilego as the active Pokemon. Poison any active Pokemon and deal damage over time. You can also attack a Poison Barb on Mega Absol EX on the active slot. Poison Barb poisons your opponents’ active Pokemon when they attack.
Nihilego’s More Poison ability deals extra +10 Poison damage to the already Poisoned active Pokemon. This strategy perfectly makes up for the low damage on Mega Absol. On the other hand, you can set up your Hydreigon for the late or early game, depending on your strategy.
Other than the Poisoning gameplay, most of the strategy is similar to our Mega Absol EX Hydreigon Deck, which we’ve discussed previously.
