It’s so difficult to deliver a story with the main character as an overpowered person who can defeat almost anyone with a single punch. But One Punch Man author Tomohiro made this anime a blockbuster, thanks to Saitama. He is incredibly funny but he puts the final nail in the enemy’s coffin once he gets serious. One Punch Man is undoubtedly a must-watch anime if you want an OP MC from the get-go.

Mob is a brilliant example of an overpowered main character who is also kind and innocent in his heart. Jin Mori from The God of Highschool anime series is the Goku of the Korean Manhwa universe. This manhwa depicts the story of Jin and his friends participating in a fighting tournament to become the best fighter among high school students in Korea. This is just a super basic synopsis of the story, but there’s a lot that goes down in the anime series.

While the animation studio rushed the series, it is still a good watch as it comes with powerful battles and showcases the godly powers of Jin Mori perfectly. The God of Highschool is said to be one of the greatest manhwas of all time, so I would recommend checking out this anime for its OP MC.

All Hail Lelouch! became quite a famous quote after fans witnessed Lelouch’s peak intelligence and ultra-powerful abilities. Lelouch is not like a typical Shonen hero who has ideals and fights with others to reach the top. Instead, he is an overpowered smart main character who lives his life like a game of chess, carefully thinking of each move he makes in the anime series. So, if you are looking for a unique OP MC, go watch Code Geass right now.

Naruto is one of the iconic characters and if not the most inspirational anime hero who has been the talk of the town for decades. Throughout the anime, we see Naruto forging his way forward with new skills and shaping up to be a powerful person. This results in him becoming one of the most memorable OP MCs in the history of anime. In addition to him being overpowered, the primary reason to watch Naruto is that it inspires you to the fullest and the memories stay with you. Thus, Naruto shouldn’t be missed out at any cost. Gon Freecs may seem like a childish character because of his appearance at the beginning of the anime. But trust us, he is more than that and will seriously surprise you over the course of the show. As the anime progresses, Gon’s power level keeps on increasing gradually, and that keeps you hooked. Thus, Hunter x Hunter is another must-watch and belongs in this list of best anime with an OP MC.

  • Genre: Animation, Comedy, Fantasy

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K is totally different from all the other anime featuring an overpowered main character. The MC Saiki here just wants to lead a normal life despite being a powerful psychic. The story focuses on how hard he struggles to hide his powers from others, but eventually, he gets tangled in a situation where he needs to use his power to help his classmates.

This anime is incredibly funny as the MC regularly finds himself in these awkward situations quite often and has to use his powers. So, if you are looking for a light-hearted anime that is totally distinct from all other anime on this list, this is the one for you. Saiki K belongs on this list of best anime with OP MC for his ridiculous psychic superpowers.

Asta can’t use magic at all, but he aims to become the wizard king one day, which serves as an inspiring storyline and an intriguing watch for those looking to follow the development of an overpowered main character in anime. • Author: written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi
  • Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure

Dr. Stone is not your typical Shonen anime, but it does have an overpowered main character. Dr. Stone follows the lives of Senku and his friends, who are on a quest to restore human civilization in a world where the entire humanity has been petrified.

Senku might not have any superpowers, but his brain is the most OP power he needs in a world where civilization has gone back several thousand years. As he is the smartest person in the current world, he recreates the brilliant inventions of mankind and rebuilds the entire civilization piece-by-piece, and it is absolutely fascinating to watch. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one of the best Isekai anime with an overpowered main character. When Satoru (not Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen) tries to save a colleague in an attack, he loses his life and gets reincarnated as a slime in a magic world. Now, Satoru carries the name Rimuru Tempest and explores the world of magic with an invincible body.

This anime is truly a gift for Isekai anime fans, and Rimuru’s exhilarating powers are a sight to watch for sure. Isekai anime never fails to entertain us, and in this case, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is easily a must-watch for everyone.

  • Title: Overlord
  • Author: Kugane Maruyama
  • Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure
  • Episodes: 52 episodes
  • IMDB/MAL: 7.7/7.92

Overlord belongs in the genre where the MC gets trapped inside a game. But it’s more like an “I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger” situation, as the main character is greatly overpowered here. Overlord is about an office worker named Ainz Ooal Gown who gets trapped inside a video game along with his associates. What makes the story more interesting is the fact that NPCs gain consciousness and follow the main character’s adventures inside the game.

When the MC gets transported to another reality, he becomes the strongest wizard as he is familiar with the game already. It’s incredibly fun to watch the characters in this wizard world, and it only gets better from there. Thus, Overlord is totally worth checking if you want a twist on this genre.

14. Kazuto Kirigaya from Sword Art Online

  • Title: Sword art online (S.A.O)
  • Author: Reki Kawahara
  • Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure
  • Episodes: 98 episodes
  • IMDB/MAL: 7.5/7.20

Sword Art Online may not have been well received among anime fans, but without a doubt, SAO as well as other anime fanbases will have to agree that Kazuto Kirigaya (avatar name Kirito) is one of the coolest overpowered main characters. Like Overlord, the protagonist Kirito as well as hundreds of other people get trapped inside a game and are given a simple rule — if they die in the game, they die in real life too, which makes the plot even scarier.

Throughout the anime, Kazuto emerges as an overpowered player after facing countless challenges in the game. He has won many battles and remains the king of the game and the anime series. Hence, if you wish to witness an OP MC don’t listen to the reviews and just hop in to have a great time.

15. Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate

  • Title: Hellsing Ultimate
  • Author: Kouta Hirano
  • Genre: Animation, Action, Fantasy

Hellsing Ultimate continues the story of Alucard and his team, who are on a mission to save England from an eternal war waged by a major with his bloodthirsty vampire army. Hellsing Ultimate features over-the-top action scenes and is carried by the overpowered Alucard.

Alucard is scarily overpowered and his bloodlust with terrific screen presence makes him more terrifying. Thus, if you are looking out for a scarier version of an OP character, Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate is the best pick for you. There are two versions of Hellsing, and Hellsing Ultimate is the one to watch if you want more of Alucard.

Noragami is about a minor god named Yato who teams up with a girl he saved to gain fame and popularity among people and to attain widespread worship. Yato’s voice actor is Hiroshi Kamiya, who also voiced Captain Levi in Attack on Titan. So it might be worth adding this information to your memory bank if you’re a fan of Hiroshi’s work.

Yato is a god who walks among humans, and we don’t need to justify his powers. He aims to get tons of worshippers with the help of the girl Hiyori Iki. It is an interesting storyline to look out for, and it will leave you impressed in the end. If you’re looking for an overpowered main characters who are Gods, Noragami is the one you should start watching.

Shizuo climbed up to become the most powerful man in the world of Durarara and has threatening powers and abilities. Many fans even wondered how is this guy still considered a human which tells a lot about his powers. Durarara ticks all the requirements of this list and should also tick the requirements for your watchlist with its ultimate protagonist.

19. Anos Voldigoad from The Misfit of Demon King Academy

  • Title: Mao Gakuin no Futekigosha
  • Author: Shu
  • Genre: Animation, Comedy, Adventure
  • Episodes: 14 episodes

We’ve seen our MCs getting reincarnated into another world. But here in this anime, a demon king who sacrificed himself for world peace 2000 years ago gets reincarnated into a young descendant (Anos) in a different era. Now, Anos goes to a school (a demon king academy) that is run by a significantly weaker group.

Anos is extremely overpowered here as he is the demon king itself and once you start watching this anime you can understand why this guy has one hell of powers at his disposal. Thus this main character directly comes under the list of the best anime with OP MCs. Look out for this anime if you want to feel the literal meaning of being overpowered.

No matter what are the odds, Yumeko Jabami always managed to turn the tide while gambling with her cleverness. Additionally, her IQ plays in the show are more than enough to prove her smartness, and deserves a spot in our list of best anime with OP main characters.

Tatsuya Shiba’s voice actor is Yuuichi Nakamura, who also voiced our beloved Gojo Sensei in Jujutsu Kaisen. Tatsuya might seem inept at first, but he possesses some amazing skills such as huge physical fighting prowess, unexpected magic techniques, and exceptional technical skills. That makes him the irregular at the magic school and an insanely overpowered main character in the anime.
