Who is Mel Medarda in Arcane?
Mel Medarda is introduced as the daughter of Ambessa Medarda in the story. So, she is the only sister of Kino Medarda and the Black Rose set their eyes on her brother initially. Before she was a politician, Mel was an aristocrat hailing from Noxus. Since her mother cast her out, she made her way to Piltover.
This was what we knew at first about her in the first season. But the second act of Arcane season 2 gave a hint that totally changed our perspective about Mel. There is a reason why the Black Rose are interested in her, and it possibly has to do with her connection with one of the characters in the Black Rose organization.
Mel’s Connection with Black Rose and LeBlanc
After Mel got captured by the Black Rose, she was held captive inside a secret chamber. She met her brother Kino there, but it later turned out to be a member of the Black Rose who was impersonating her brother. This character could potentially be LeBlanc as League of Legends players have been waiting for the mistress of impersonation’s arrival in the series.
However, you are here to know all of the connection between Mel and the Black Rose, right? Well, a story shared by LeBlanc is the only information we have about the connection.
According to LeBlanc, Ambessa fell in love with a man from Basilich and their affair led to the birth of an illegitimate child. The Black Rose believed that it was Kino and had high hopes for him, but it wasn’t him in the end. Thus, the organization now believes that the love child was Mel Medarda instead.
What’s even more surprising is the fact that LeBlanc or the impersonating character called Mel her sister. So, LeBlanc could very well be Ambessa’s daughter who was disowned like Mel. We also saw Mel unleash an unknown power to escape the domain full of thorns. We still have to wait to be able to learn about is her power and whether she escaped or not.
Remember when Amara said to Ambessa, “What you’ve stolen is more precious than any gold?” Could this be Mel that she was talking about or the power that Mel has within her? There are just too many unanswered questions about Mel’s connection with the Black Rose right now. We’ll have to wait for next week to see if Arcane season 2 Act 3 uncovers the truth.
