The late 2000s’ was in my opinion, one of the best times for Disney sitcoms with shows like Phineas and Ferb and Hannah Montana airing on Disney Channel. Parallel to these shows, Wizards of Waverly Place also appeared on television and became one of the best shows on Disney. Now, it is pretty clear that the upcoming Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will take place after the events of the previous series featuring some new and reappearing characters. So, in this article let’s find out how The Wizards of Waverly Place end!
Wizards of Waverly Place Ending Explained
In the show, we get to know that in the wizarding world, the siblings of a family have to compete against each other once their training is complete and the one who wins in that competition gets to keep his or her powers while the others will have to live as normal human beings. The finale of the series brings us to the episode titled “Who Will Be the Family Wizard?”.
In the episodes, we see that the Russos are having dinner prepared by Alex, and out of nowhere Headmaster of Wiz-Tech, Headmaster Crumbs appears announcing that the family is ready to have the Family Wizard Competiton to see who is going to be the Russo family wizard. The competition begins instantly with the first game about the general history of magic where Justin is at the top, Max comes second and Alex is the last one.
The second round begins after it but in the middle of it, Zeke and Harper get abducted by a griffin. Alex talks Justin and Max into using their timeouts to go and save them and in the end, they manage to save Zeke and Harper but all of them took too much time and got collectively disqualified. Justin and Max get mad at Alex but eventually everything sorts out. However, as it turns out, this in itself was a test to see the strength of the bond the Russo family shares.
Then in the third round, we see that they are presented with situations from their life and are asked which spell would have fixed the situation. Alex owns this round and comes even to Justin’s score. Then, the siblings proceed toward the final round where they are sent to a huge labyrinth and the one to make it out of their first will be pronounced the winner.
By the end of this competition, Justin emerges out of their first and is pronounced the winner. However, as he is being given the title, he declines it saying that Alex is the winner but she comes back to help Justin get out of a root he was trapped in and let go of her shot at winning.
Hearing this, Alex is pronounced the winner by Professor Crumbs. Along with this, he also announced his retirement as the Headmaster of Wiz-Tech and offered the position to Justin which he gladly accepted. Now, in the Russo family, both Alex and Justin retain their powers, and the only one without them is Max. However, Jerry, their father announces that down the line, he will pass on the sandwich shop to Max which makes him extremely happy and The Wizards of Waverly Place meets a happy end.
Now, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is the direct sequel to the TV show and will revolve around Justin and his children – Milo and Roman.
