The answer to this question is yes; Riot Games has been working on several new projects based on League of Legends after Arcane.

In a recent interview with Collider, the show’s co-creator Christian Linke was asked if there are any other shows they have planned to develop after Arcane. The co-creator stated,

“Yeah, we’re currently developing a bunch of follow-up projects. Really, Arcane was always considered the first step, kind of like the trial by fire.”

He further added that there are 169 champions in League of Legends, and it was impossible to add most of them in Arcane as it would create chaos. Arcane only featured 10% of the overall League of Legends characters in the primary, supporting, or cameo roles.

Recently, League of Legends fans were introduced to Ambessa Medarda from the Arcane universe. Hence, there are several champions who are well-suited for the follow-up series, and the creators are currently working on multiple projects.

From the interview, we also learned that shows like Arcane usually take longer to produce than the other shows. Linke clearly revealed that one animator can usually work on a four-second animation weekly. Moreover, every frame of the show is hand-animated, so it requires enormous effort.

At the time of writing this article, we don’t know much about what the creators are planning at the moment. The creators are yet to reveal what characters they are working on for the follow-up series or what the project’s title or story will be. So, we shall be patient until the creators are ready to share with any further details of the project.
