Will GTA 6 Be on Xbox Game Pass at Launch?

GTA 6 is a little over two months away, releasing November 19, 2026, and it’s easily the biggest entertainment property of the decade. Most players have already pre-ordered GTA 6 to experience Jason and Lucia’s story on day one. However, some players are still hoping Rockstar’s next game arrives on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Is GTA 6 Coming to Xbox Game Pass at Launch?

The answer is no, GTA 6 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has never released one of its major games on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

With reports claiming that GTA 6 pre-orders have surpassed 4 million copies, there’s no reason whatsoever for Rockstar to release their biggest game ever on a subscription service.

Furthermore, GTA 6’s $100 Ultimate Edition is already dominating pre-orders over the $80 Standard, so all things considered, Rockstar is doing incredibly well even before the game is released. So, it’s extremely unlikely- rather, impossible that Rockstar releases GTA 6 on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

That’s not to say that GTA 6 won’t drop on Xbox Game Pass in the future. Rockstar has a history of releasing their games on the service several years after release, so the studio could follow the same path with GTA 6. However, just don’t expect it anytime soon.

For players who want to experience the game on day one, there’s no option other than to pre-order GTA 6’s Standard or Ultimate Edition to play it on November 19, 2026. If GTA 6 arrives on Xbox Game Pass in the future, and that’s a big if, you’d already have completed the game ten times over.

Rockstar’s History with Xbox Game Pass

Previously, Rockstar’s two biggest titles, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, had their fair share of stints on Xbox Game Pass, though none were particularly long. GTA 5 first appeared on Xbox Game Pass on January 3, 2020, more than six years after its debut on Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 17, 2013.

There’s a chance Hideo Kojima releases PHYSINT on Xbox before GTA 6 joins Game Pass, and the former likely won’t release on the service either. However, plans could change, and Rockstar may pivot to a quicker release for GTA 6 on the subscription platform.
