Jujutsu Kaisen has seen Megumi Fushiguro as a supporting character in the first two seasons, and now, finally, the tables are going to turn. Initially, he followed a strict rule: protect those who deserve it. However, since the day Yuji entered his life, Megumi’s perspective had changed. Yuji served as Megumi’s moral compass. Now that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is here, every fan should know that Megumi will finally come out of his friend’s shadow and play one of the most crucial roles.
Megumi Fushiguro to Take a Dark Turn in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3

At the start of the Culling Game, Megumi enters Tokyo No. 1 Colony, alongside Yuji. However, they are separated soon, with Megumi crossing paths with Remi, whose betrayal leads to an ambush orchestrated by Reggie Star and his group. Following this, Megumi realizes that trust is a liability in Culling Game, and if he wants to survive, he shouldn’t put his faith in anyone except himself. He also learns that the world has gotten much more chaotic now, and he must fight here to grow, no matter how ruthless the path makes him. Yuji was the one who taught him to be a protector, but this first encounter with Reggie Star, Remi, and their group made him embrace his darker side, which tells him to spare or kill anyone based on his own judgment.
Megumi begins to see the game as a battlefield where one must kill others to grow stronger, so he ruthlessly kills his opponents. Later in the story, he crosses paths with Yuji again. He also learns that Yuji has added a rule to save Tsumiki. However, after the duo encounter Tsumiki in the game, she uses Megumi to use his points to add a new rule. Later, she reveals her true identity as Yorozu, shaking Megumi to the core. The boy finally realized that there’s nothing he can do to save his sister now.
Sukuna Turns Megumi Into His New Weapon in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3

Megumi possessed the Ten Shadow technique, and that was the sole reason why Sukuna wanted to take Megumi as a vessel. The King of Curses knew that if he could possess Megumi, he would acquire the ability to rival even the ones with the strongest techniques in history. So, he gets the big chance during the Culling Game, so without delaying, he just transfers his soul into Megumi. Using his abilities, Sukuna brutally kills Yorozu in Tsumiki’s body, ultimately eliminating them both. So, like he made Yuji suffer by witnessing the mass murder in Shibuya, Sukuna breaks Megumi’s will by killing the one he wanted to protect.
Megumi doesn’t give in, though, and desperately resists Sukuna’s control from within. However, his efforts go in vain. The King of Curses eventually transforms the determined sorcerer into a broken and powerless soul with no choice but to watch his body used to fulfill the evil one’s cruel ambitions.
