What Is the ‘Severance Reform’ in Severance Season 2? Explained

In Short
  • Severance Reform in Season 2 could be the protests ignited by the whistle-blowing act of Mark and his team in Season 1.
  • According to Milchick, Cobel was accountable for all of this and has been fired from Lumon.
  • Severance Reform could also mean that somehow Lumon has managed to turn around the impact this rebellion had in their favor.

Severance Season 2 is right around the corner and for those who watched Season 1 when the show just came out, this Season is something they have been eagerly waiting for almost three years. However, if you look at the trailer for Severance Season 2, you will hear Milchick tell Mark that he and his team have become the face of the Severance Reform but it has not been elaborated further exactly what this reform is. So, let me tell you what I think Severance Reform stands for in Severance Season 2.

Severance Reform Is the Protest Movement Against Lumon

In the trailer for Severance Season 2, we see that Mark is scared of Milchick because he thinks that the stunt he and his friends pulled in Season 1 by activating the Overtime Contingency Protocol has landed him in serious trouble. However, the reality is quite different from it. In the trailer, we see that instead of punishment, Milchick tells Mark that he and his team have become the face of the Severance Reform.

According to me, after Mark, Helly, Irving, and Dylan activated the OCP and blew the whistle on Lumon’s atrocities, people across the globe started protesting against the Severance procedure under the banner of “Severance Reform”. According to the sneak peek released by Apple TV+, everything that went down was blamed on Cobel labeling her as a tyrant who abused her power as Mark and his team’s boss.

Under those charges, she has been fired from Lumon for good, and now, Milchick has taken her place. However, the Severance Reform could also mean that somehow, Lumon has managed to turn around the intent of Mark and his team’s efforts by putting it forward in a way that makes Severance look good which explains why there are no consequences for Mark and his friends.

Even though Milchick assures Mark that this rebellion has caused Lumon to change its ways, it is probably another lie. The true answer to this will be given in Severance Season 2 but in the meantime, what do you think it stands for? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned with us for further updates!
