CDPR announced out of the blue that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting a new expansion ahead of The Witcher 4‘s release. When The Witcher 3 received the next-gen update in 2022, the game’s system requirements were bumped up. Now, CDPR has once again announced that they are switching up The Witcher 3 PC requirements for the upcoming Songs of the Past DLC. Thus, check out the new system requirements if you are gearing up to play the new Witcher 3 DLC.
The Witcher 3 DLC Songs of the Past PC System Requirements (Minimum)
With a new major content update on the way, the minimum system requirements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past DLC have been revealed. You can no longer expect to play the upcoming DLC with the older system requirements, which included an Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660 and an AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870.
Now you need at least an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB to run The Witcher 3. In addition, only SSDs are supported for the game installation from now on. That said, here are the complete minimum system requirements for The Witcher 3 Songs of the Past DLC:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600, Intel Core i5-8400
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB
- VRAM: 6 GB
- RAM: 12 GB
- Storage: 70 GB SSD
- OS: 64-bit Windows 11
Moreover, the devs have stated that they will only support GPUs (with active driver support) and processors supported on Windows 11. In case you have older hardware, you cannot access the Songs of the Past DLC, but you can still play the older version of the main game.
The Witcher 3 DLC Songs of the Past PC System Requirements (Recommended)
At the time of writing, neither CDPR nor Fool’s Theory has revealed the recommended system requirements for the upcoming DLC. We will update this section once the studio shares the Songs of the Past PC spec sheet.
Since the new Witcher 3 expansion is scheduled for a 2027 release, we will have to wait a long time before we see the recommended system requirements.
