List of Sonic 3 Cast and Voice Actors

Sonic 3 is closing in on its release date with each passing day. A new trailer for Sonic The Hedgehog 3 was released recently bringing in previously seen characters and some new ones as well. The latest and most remarkable addition to the cast of Sonic 3 is Shadow, who will also be the movie’s main antagonist. So, in this article, find out about the returning and new cast of Sonic 3!

1. Ben Schwartz as Sonic The Hedgehog

From being SEGA’s mascot videogame character to being one of the most loved live-action adaptations, Ben Schwartz is back in the role of the Blue Speedster. He is adorable to look at, incredibly fast, and cannot resist a good chili dog. After the success of the first two movies, Sonic is back with Sonic The Hedgehog 3.

2. Idris Elba as Knuckles

Introduced in Sonic The Hedgehog, Knuckles made his debut as an antagonist and sidekick to Doctor Robotnik but later on became a part of Sonic’s team. while being a speedster himself, Knuckles is also extremely strong and can take down an entire building with a single punch. He will be returning in Sonic 3 with the voice of Idris Elba.

3. Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails

Also introduced in Sonic 2, Tails is Sonic’s sidekick who can use her tail to fly for a limited time. Tails is voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey and will be appearing in Sonic 3 alongside Knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog. In the previous movie, she was seen helping out Sonic and his friends to stop Robotnik.

4. Jim Carrey as Doctor Robotnik/ Doctor EggMan

One of the best characters in The Sonic franchise is probably Jim Carrey’s Doctor Robotnik or Doctor EggMan. This is a character we have seen in the Sonic video games and is known as the nemesis of Sonic. Doctor Robotnik’s main motive in the previous Sonic movies was to capture Sonic and use his powers to build extremely powerful weapons. However, in both the first and the second movie, he was defeated by Sonic and his friends.

In Sonic 3, Jim Carrey returns as Doctor Robotnik even after Jim announced his retirement some time back. However, this time, Doctor Robotnik will be helping out Sonic and his team to take a stand against Shadow.

5. Keanu Reeves as Shadow

The most exciting part about Sonic 3 is the casting of Shadow. Keanu Reeves is going to voice the character of Shadow and based on the trailer of Sonic 3, it is safe to say that Keanu is absolutely nailing the performance.

Shadow’s appearance was teased in the mid-credits scene of Sonic 2 and since then it has been a topic of discussion among fans that who is going to voice this character. However, when Keanu Reeves was announced as Shadow’s voice, people’s reaction was rather mixed but with the trailer released, it’s safe to say that Shadow is in good hands.

6. Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone

Agent Stone played by Lee Majdoub has been a part of the Sonic franchise since the very first movie came out. He appears as Doctor Robotnik’s assistant and is also the owner of Mean Bean Coffee Café in Green Hills. Since Jim Carrey had previously announced his retirement, it was assumed that Lee Majdoub would not appear in Sonic 3 but as it turns out, he is going to be a part of Sonic 3’s cast.

7. James Marsden as Tom Wachowski

Tom Wachowski played the second lead in the first Sonic movie where he was a sheriff at Green Hills. He stumbled upon Sonic in the first movie and took Sonic to his home. Initially, it was somewhat of a problem but as time passed, Tom and Sonic became best friends, and now, James Marsden is going to reprise his role as Tom Wachowski in Sonic 3.

8. Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski

Maddie Wachowski is Tom’s wife and one of the first people who knew about Sonic’s existence. She plays a minor protagonist in the movie and even though she was not initially happy with Sonic, gradually she accepted him as a part of her family. Tika Sumpter will be reprising her role as Maddie Wachowski in Sonic 3 but the extent of her role is not yet specified.

9. Tom Butler as Commander Walters

Tim Burton plays a rather minor character in the Sonic franchise. He appears in the role of Commander Walters who is the commander of Guardian Units of Nations. He is responsible for containing alien threats and even though he thought Sonic and his team to be a threat initially, after seeing them stop Doctor Robotnik in Sonic 2, he realized that they are allies. He appears in the trailer of Sonic 3 and calls in Team Sonic to stop Shadow who has escaped from their high security facility.

After these actors, there are some announced cast members whose roles have not yet been specified. Sonic 3 will feature Krysten Ritter, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone. Even though we do not know the extent of their roles this reveal confirms that Sonic 3 is going to have a massive cast.
