- Topaz & Numby is an excellent choice if you have many Follow-up attack focused units in your team. She is the best Follow-up attack support in the game.
- She is not comparable to other DPS units in the game as her main kit is focused for supporting FUA units. But, she can still hold her own in a hypercarry team created around her.
- Topaz is a FUA Support and can also act as a Hypercarry. It is best to pair her with other Follow-up attack units.
Topaz and Numby is a special character in Honkai Star Rail, having both a strong DPS and a Support kit. She is a FUA support and what she provides has been unparalleled so far in Honkai Star Rail. She is returning in the second phase banner of Honkai Star Rail 2.5. If you are unsure of whether to pull for Topaz in HSR 2.5, go through this article first and then make up your mind on it.
Honkai Star Rail Topaz & Numby Kit
Topaz is primarily a Follow-up Attack buffing Support, but she can also act as a single target DPS. Her Skill applies a debuff stack on one enemy, which makes the marked enemy take 50% increased Follow-up attack damage from allies. Topaz’s Skill also does a decent amount of single-target damage, and the attack is also considered a Follow-up attack.
Her Ultimate enhances the next attack from Numby, increasing the Damage multiplier by 150% and increasing the Crit Damage by 25%. Additionally, when an ally attacks the target with the debuff applied by Topaz, Numby’s action gets forwarded by 50%. Furthermore, Topaz’s talent allows Numby’s attacks to action forward by 50% when an ally attacks the target with the debuff with a Follow-up attack. This is why Topaz is extremely strong alongside other FUA characters in Honkai Star Rail.
Topaz & Numby vs Other Characters in Honkai Star Rail
Normally, I compare the characters of the same type. However, Topaz is such a special character that comparing her to either DPS or Support units seems like a disservice to her kit. Still, I have tried my best to compare her to other characters that I think players may want to take over her.
- Topaz vs Other DPS characters: Topaz is a really strong single-target DPS unit but she is not among the best damage dealers in the game. Although you can play Topaz as a Hypercarry and she will do a good enough job against even the hardest enemies, she won’t be doing damage comparable to Acheron, Jingliu, Boothill, Feixiao, Dan Heng IL, or Firefly. However, in the correct team, Topaz can increase the damage output of the team so much that it outshines all the other hypercarry teams.
- Topaz vs Other Support characters: In terms of supporting capabilities, Topaz only buffs one aspect of the game and that is FUA. With her in the team, she will not only increase her own damage but also increase the damage output of all the FUA characters in the team. She can even be a better option from a traditional support unit in a FUA team, especially alongside Feixiao. You can completely skip on a support character and use Feixiao with Topaz and another FUA sub-DPS and make it work.
Best Team Synergies for Topaz & Numby
Topaz is a FUA support so the best teams for her will always be FUA teams. To get the best out of her kit, she needs allies that deal constant Follow-up attacks to maximize on her buff and increase her damage output as well with Numby. The more an ally attacks using FUA, the more quickly Numby gets its turn to attack as well.
The best Topaz teams will feature Robin, Feixiao, Moze, Dr. Ratio, Hunt March 7th, Aventurine, Lingsha, Jing Yuan, and any other FUA character released later in the game. Other than that, she can also play as a traditional Hypercarry, pairing well with Support and Sustains without Follow-up attacks in their kit.
Does Topaz Need Her Signature Light Cone?
Topaz’s signature Light Cone is extremely strong for her kit, and it is recommended to get it if you want to get the best out of Topaz. Her signature Light Cone also increases the Crit Damage received by enemies from allies, while also buffing the Crit Rate and FUA damage of the wearer. There are no other 4-star Hunt Light Cones that provide an FUA damage increase, making her Signature Light Cone quite special.
However, many of the 4-star or F2P Hunt Light Cones also do a decent job buffing Topaz’s damage. These Light Cones may not be the most ideal for her kit, but they still do a good job for her.
Should You Pull for Topaz & Numby?
Now that you know everything about Topaz, here is a rundown of her strengths and weaknesses. Let’s take a look.
Topaz & Numby’s Strength:
- Buffs FUA Attacks of the entire team.
- Does really high damage with good support abilities.
- Her value increases with each new FUA character released.
Topaz & Numby’s Weaknesses:
- Not the strongest DPS unit in the game as a Main DPS.
- Best teams are mostly limited to FUA characters.
Overall, I consider Topaz & Numby a must-pull character for anyone with a FUA team. Otherwise, she is a strong DPS unit and has the capability to out-damage enemies in most scenarios. Her supporting capabilities are unique in the current version of the game, and her value will only increase with more FUA character releases. She will be a great addition to your roster and allow you to create strong FUA teams, which are really good to play.
