However, he refuses to accept the new team and rebels by putting a note in Mark W.’s pocket and later contacting the board requesting to bring back his team. Even though the first episode was not that eventful, by the end of it we see a pretty cryptic shot that might have teased what the MDR department does. So without further ado, let me explain this cryptic Severance Season 2 Episode 1 ending.

By the end of the first episode, Mark and his team decide to stay at Lumon even though Milchick has offered them a one-time chance to leave for good. They do it to uncover what Lumon is doing and assist Mark in rescuing Ms. Casey, who is his outie’s wife, from Lumon.

As the episode ends, we see that they have started working on their computers, and as Mark submits a set of numbers on a box, the screen shifts to a shot of Ms.Casey and a screen displaying her vitals. We see the subject’s name as Cold Harbor with a 68% finished progress bar, along with some other stats.

The ending of Severance Season 2 Episode 1 probably teases that the numbers MDR refines are related to refining a new version of Severance chips, a test subject of which is Ms.Casey. It has already been speculated that Lumon has used the Severance procedure to save Gemma from dying and create a clone innie personality in the form of Ms. Casey. Since the outie persona of Ms. Casey is no longer there, she cannot step out of Lumon.

Let’s wait and see where this goes and if this theory for Severance Season 2 turns out to be true, it would open a new door to possibilities that could be explored as the show proceeds. So, stay tuned with us for further updates regarding Severance Season 2!
