Severance Season 1 ended on what is safe to say one of the most insane cliffhangers I have ever witnessed. However, now that you know that Severance Season 2 is coming out soon, you might want to revise your memory of the current running story of the show, and if you have just finished the show you might be a bit baffled by how the season ended. So, here we have broken down what happened at the end of Severance season 1.
Mark’s Innie Finds out His Wife Is Trapped at Lumon as Ms. Casey
In the final episode of Severance Season 1, we see that Mark, Irving, Helly, and Dylan finally set out to execute their plan of using the Overtime Contingency Protocol (OCP) to let their loved ones know that Lumon is mistreating its employees and all the innies are miserable at the workplace. Dylan decides to stay behind and activate the OCP so that Mark, Irving, and Helly can ask for help in the outside world.
As soon as Dylan activates the machine, Irving finds out that he paints in real life and is already investigating Lumon regarding something. Helly is awakened in the middle of an event and finds out that she is the daughter of Lumon’s CEO and a descendant of Kier Eagan who took up the job at Lumon as a propaganda operation against the anti-Severance activities going on in the world. Meanwhile, Mark awakens at his sister’s house in a get-together and is shocked to see Cobel there.
Irving drives to Burt’s house to ask for help while Helly gets on stage and starts revealing everything that is wrong with Lumon and how they mistreat all the innies there are in the office. Mark, on the other hand, tells his sister everything that has been happening at Lumon and finds a picture of his wedding. He is shocked to see that his wife is none other than Ms. Casey and runs to his sister to let her know that Gemma is alive.
Meanwhile, Cobel, who has been fired under the charges of incompetence calls Milchick and tells him that the OCP has been activated. Milchick runs to the security office and attempts to talk Dylan out of stopping the procedure. However, when he is not able to, he forcefully makes him let go of the levers and just before the OCP is terminated, Mark screams with the photo in his hand to his sister “she is alive!”
As soon as this happens, the Overtime Contingency Protocol is terminated and we can see Mark’s expressions shift as his outie is back in charge and this is where Season 1 of Severance meets its ending. This cliffhanger is massive and now with Severance Season 2 lined up, people are more than eager to find out what happens next. Well, to find that out we will all have to wait till January 17, 2025, and till then, stay tuned with us for further updates!
