The one question that was running through everyone’s minds: why did Rocks claim himself as a worshipper of Davy Jones in front of Imu? A few chapters later, we now understand why Oda has brought back the legend of Davy Jones after Rocks D. Xebec revealed the truth about his secret name in One Piece chapter 1159.
Rocks D. Xebec’s Real Name Revealed in One Piece
Rocks D. Xebec has always been a man shrouded in mystery, as the World Government ensured that all records of the character and his actions were erased from the face of the earth. However, it wasn’t done just because Rocks continued to destroy their forces, and there is a deeper meaning behind their sketchy conduct. On his way to rescue Shakky from God Valley, King Harald interrupted Rock’s mission out of the blue.
However, out of respect for their friendship, Rocks wanted to settle this conflict with Harald with words. As the two shared a final sake, Rocks decided to confess his biggest secret to his friend King Harald at the most unexpected time, which even his crew wasn’t aware of. Xebec disclosed that Rocks wasn’t his real name, and his real name was Davy D. Xebec. Yes! Xebec is now confirmed to be a descendant of Davy D. Jones, making him a member of the infamous Davy clan.
The World Government has been deliberately erasing this name from history books, as it wields immense influence worldwide, according to Xebec. Similar to legendary figures such as Joy Boy, Nika, and Gol D. Roger, the World Government worked hard to keep this information from the public’s eyes.
Gol D. Roger sat down with his friend Whitebeard and revealed the truth about his name in the pre-time-skip era of One Piece. In parallel with this iconic moment, Rocks had a drink with his pal Harald and revealed the truth about his secret name. Unfortunately, both legendary pirates died on the same island where they were born. These unexpected parallels hint at even more surprising details coming our way about the D clan.
God Valley Is the Birthplace of Davy D. Xebec
Then Xebec continued to drop even more shocking twists, including the fact that God Valley is his hometown. A few years before, Xebec also married someone and gave birth to Blackbeard. Since he wanted to protect them, he sent his wife and kid to God Valley and ensured the Davy Clan would have their backs. This also confirmed that the remnants of the Davy clan (around 12 members) have been living on the God Valley island for a long time.
Remember when Garling talked about a shocking discovery in God Valley in the previous chapter. Now we understand why he mentioned that this discovery would please Imu, as murdering the last twelve surviving members of the Davy clan would benefit their creator. Coincidentally, the World Government kidnapped Shakky and conducted the Native Hunting Competition in Xebec’s hometown.
So, Rocks sailed to the God Valley not just to rescue Shakky but also to safeguard his family from the dreadful Celestial Dragons and the members of WG. Everything points towards the inevitable defeat of Davy D. Xebec in the upcoming chapters. Not to forget, it’s not Rocks D. Teach or Marshall D. Teach anymore; we should be calling his son “Davy D. Teach” from now on.
It seems this inhumane competition has been conducted solely to hunt down the rare members of the D clan. Now, the Davy Clan members will be hunted for the first time in 800 years, i.e., since the Void Century.
