Pokemon trainers will encounter a lot of Team GO Rocket members and an event-specific particular research task. Pokemon GO Taken over Special Research: Time and How to Join
The Pokemon GO Taken Over Special Research starts today, August 8, 2024. During this, you can claim a Special Research that involves tracking down Team GO Rocket gym leaders, catching Pokemon, and purifying them—you know, the standard Team GO Rocket things, as this is a Team GO Rocket-themed event. Interestingly, this event also ties the research tasks to the Pokemon GO Giovanni lineup.
You have until September 3, 2024, to log in to Pokemon GO and accept this research task. After this, Shared Skies wraps up, leaving you to sit on the sidelines. Furthermore, you must complete any existing Team GO Rocket special research on your list. So, if you still have “A Troubling Situation” in your inventory, you had better get around to completing it!
Pokemon GO Taken Over Special Research: All Research Tasks and Rewards

- Catch 15 Pokemon: 5x Pinap Berry.
- Purify 2 Shadow Pokemon: 10x Poke Balls.
- Defeat 3 Team GO Rocket Grunts: x1 Mysterious Component.
Rewards: 1500 XP, 500 Stardust, Kabuto encounter
Step 2 of 5
- Catch 20 Pokemon: 5x Pinap Berry.
- Purify 5 Shadow Pokemon: 10 Great Balls.
- Defeat six Team GO Rocket Grunts: 3x Mysterious Component.
Rewards: 2000 XP, 1000 Stardust, Omanyte encounter
Step 3 of 5
- Defeat Team GO Rocket Leader Arlo: 2500 XP
- Defeat Team GO Rocket Leader Cliff: 2500 XP
- Defeat Team GO Rocket Leader Sierra: 2500 XP
Rewards: 2500 XP, 1500 Stardust, 1 Super Rocket Radar
Step 4 of 5
- Find the Team GO Rocket Boss: 10 Hyper Potion.
- Battle the Team GO Rocket Boss: 10 Ultra Ball.
- Defeat the Team GO Rocket Boss: 6 Max Revive.
Rewards: 3000 XP, 2000 Stardust, Aerodactyl encounter

- Claim Reward!: 1500 Stardust
