Oppo today held an event to launch the Oppo Reno 2 series in China. Yes, the same one which was debuted in India just recently with Snapdragon 730G and 20x zoom capability. Well, towards the end of the event, Oppo VP Brian Shen revealed that the company will launch a new Reno smartphone in October and it will be called Oppo Reno Ace.
Oppo Reno Ace will be the Chinese giant’s latest flagship, which will most likely succeed Oppo Reno 10x Zoom that was launched earlier this year. Shen didn’t reveal any details about this flagship on stage but has been dropping hints about it on his Weibo for quite some time now.
This smartphone could be the rumored flagship with a 90Hz display that Oppo had recently teased on social media in China. This will be the first Oppo phone with a higher refresh rate screen and second (or maybe third) in BBK Electronics’ portfolio. OnePlus 7 Pro, along with the upcoming OnePlus 7T lineup, are the first few premium flagships to adopt a 90Hz display.
Apart from this, Shen has revealed that the next Oppo Reno flagship will house a 4,000 mAh battery with support for an upgraded SuperVOOC technology. Yes, the company is known to have teased that it will soon reveal an upgrade for their 50W SuperVOOC tech we’ve previously seen on the Oppo R17 Pro. We can expect to see 80W fast-charging support on Oppo Reno Ace.
Oppo hasn’t revealed a lot about the Reno Ace, but we can expect the Chinese giant to start dropping hint for its next flagship in the coming weeks. Oppo Reno 10x Zoom has been on my radar for a value-for-money flagship for the longest time and I want to see whether Reno Ace will be able to trump my expectations or not.
