It’s hilariously sad how I’ve been solving Strands every day for the last 1.5 months and yet, had such a hard time with today’s round. Well, I’m going to blame it on a bad day and move on to let you in on the hints and answers for the April 24 NYT Strands. So, let’s get to it.
What is the Theme for Today’s NYT Strands?
As revealed by the New York Times, the theme for today’s Strands is “This is a puzzle”.

Every Strands game has that one Spangram that you need to decipher and today’s was no exception. The hint for today’s Spangram is – “Another word for brain-twister”.
Theme Words Hints for Today’s Strands
If you have figured out the Spangram from the above hint, figuring out the theme words will be easy. However, I don’t want to ruin it for you. Instead, here are three theme word hints that may help you:
- Hint #1: A detective novel’s genre
- Hint #2: Synonymous with ‘dilemma’

Spangram Answer for NYT Strands on April 24
The Spangram for today’s NYT Strands puzzle is BRAINTEASERS, and it runs from bottom to middle on the letters grid.

If you have scrolled this far, you are probably ready to see the answers. So, let’s take a look at today’s theme words in Strands:
- RIDDLE
- MYSTERY
- ENIGMA
- QUANDARY
- CONUNDRUM
The Strands today had me think about everything from Sudoku and Ludo to Wordle and Connections, but not what it was actually about. I couldn’t find anything in the grids and had to use a hint to find RIDDLE. That also led me to find MYSTERY and ENIGMA in the leftmost columns. I was blank yet again, and another hint revealed QUANDARY and I was done with the puzzle at this point.
Fortunately, I found CONUNDRUM in the bottom right corner. That ultimately helped me find BRAINTEASERS as the Spangram for today’s Strands, which concluded the round. Okay, we’ll never talk about the puzzle today. Never.
