The final season of My Hero Academia is full of surprises. A few weeks ago, Katsuki Bakugo utterly defeated All For One, and the ultimate villain’s sudden death shook the entire fandom. After transferring his One For All quirk to Tomura, Deku ended up inside the subconscious realm of Tenko Shimura. This was Deku’s final chance to confront Tomura about the feelings he had bottled up inside, and he convinced the latter. So, the moment when Tomura’s will began to crack, the vestige of AFO that had been dormant inside Tomura’s body awakened.

Now the original AFO might have been long gone. But in his quest to prepare a perfect vessel for himself, he already had a vestige within Tomura’s body when he bestowed Tomura his original quirk (similar to how OFA users lived on as vestiges). All this time, Tomura had a strong will to unleash destruction everywhere and rejected the idea of AFO taking control of his body.

However, Deku’s confrontation with Tomura put a hole in the latter’s willpower, which AFO’s vestige immediately exploited to assume control of his perfect vessel. Now, AFO has finally achieved his lifelong dream by taking over Tomura’s body just when we thought his chapter was already over. And it doesn’t stop here!

For a long time, we thought All For One took advantage of Tenko Shimura’s tragedy, as he happened to be at the right place at the right time. However, that is not what just happened, and the actual series of events has revealed the complete plan of the evil mastermind. MHA final season’s episode 11 revealed that it was All For One, all along, who shaped Tenko Shimura’s life so that he would end up as his perfect vessel.

All For One learned about Kotaro Shimura’s (Nana Shimura’s son) resentment towards heroes, and the latter became his first victim. AFO got along well with him even before Tenko was born. In fact, the villain was the one who suggested that Kotaro give birth to another child (which was Tomura) in his search for a perfect vessel.

Then AFO continued to put dangerous thoughts into Tenko’s father, which was the main reason behind the increase in Kotaro’s ever-growing hatred towards heroes, and also led to him physically attacking his own children. And that’s just the beginning! Over the years, AFO robbed Tenko of his original quirk and later planted the “Decay” quirk inside him. This resulted in the tragedy of the Shimura family, where Tenko accidentally killed everyone with his decay powers.

The root cause of all of Shigaraki’s life was revealed to be none other than AFO. We always knew AFO was a puppet master ruling from the shadows. But these unexpected twists have now altered our entire perspective about this villain. He was really the evil genius in MHA and had planned for this moment for a very long time. Now he gets to reap the rewards and is back to give a tough time to heroes when they are already weakened.

We don’t know how Deku and the rest of the heroes are going to overcome the insurmountable threat once again. In the meantime, what do you think about the twist of AFO coming back and being the one who shaped Tomura’s life? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
