Marvel Rivals Season 7’s balancing changes have already shaken up the hero shooter’s meta, but the devs are going one step further and tweaking things within the Competitive mode itself. As fans will know, Rivals’ Competitive scene can get pretty intense. Players are often so hell-bent on climbing elos that they’ll happily get carried by teammates, and game the system in the process.
NetEase has decided to crack down on this behavior with an interesting new system and has also implemented changes that fans had been requesting. If you’re looking for an overview of what to expect, here are all the Marvel Rivals Season 7 Competitive changes.
Marvel Rivals Season 7 Competitive Changes Explained
Below, you’ll find every adjustment coming to the Marvel Rivals Competitive mode. For what it’s worth, the Marvel Rivals ranks structure will remain the same.
Placement Match Changes
Every placement match now tracks your individual performance (not tied to teammates). After ten placement matches, your rank will be adjusted between -100 and +100 competitive points based on your personal results and tier. This move aims to cut down on players who full-stack with higher-elo competitors and climb through ranks.
Perform well across all 10 matches, and you’ll receive a one division bonus. Do poorly, and you’ll lose a division. Either way, the maximum impact of this system is limited to one division.
Ban Phase Updates
Both teams can now ban 3 heroes each (up from 2). To keep the action moving, each ban round has been shortened to 15 seconds (was 20 seconds earlier). This move had been requested by a number of players, so it’s nice to see Netease take some action.
Map Pool Changes
The fan-favorite Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya map is returning to the Competitive rotation. This is easily the most-requested change of the bunch, since a majority of fans adore the map’s structure and aesthetic. Of course, Marvel Rivals Season 7 has also introduced a new Convergence map named Lower Manhattan, which is due for release on April 3rd.
And that covers all the Competitive changes coming to Marvel Rivals Season 7. What do you make of the adjustments? Let us know in the comments.
