The Genshin Impact 5.7 Archon quest — ‘A Space and Time for You’ dropped an unexpected piece of information on Khaenri’ah. The Archon quest revealed that Khaenri’ah has been revived in Genshin Impact, and the entire set of events happening in the quest led to it. So, how did Khaenri’ah’s revival in Genshin Impact take place, or has it actually revived? Here is a detailed explanation of the entire storyline.
What is Khaenri’ah in Genshin Impact?
First, for those who are unfamiliar with Khaenri’ah and their connection to the Abyss Order, here is a quick summary.
- Khaenri’ah was an ancient civilization in Teyvat that existed 500 years ago from the current set of events. The people of this land were technologically advanced and did not believe in worshipping the gods.
- Traveler’s sibling was accepted by the people of Khaenri’ah as the ‘Savior’ and named as the ‘Prince’ or ‘Princess’, depending on the chosen gender of your character. The sibling had woken up in Khaenri’ah without memory and considered the place a second home.
- The King Irmin of Khaenri’ah decided to delve into forbidden knowledge using the Abyss to further advance their technology. This eventually led to their disaster during the Cataclysm.

- When the monsters named ‘Gold,’ created by the alchemist Rhinedottir of Khaenri’ah, invaded Teyvat, Celestia had to retaliate at Khaenri’ah, completely destroying it in the process.
- When this happened, the pure-blooded Khaenri’ahns were cursed with immortality while the other Khaenri’ahns were turned into monsters.
- The Abyss Order originated from the destruction of Khaenri’ah. The Abyss monsters are the people of Khaenri’ah turned into this form after the curse. This order is led by the Traveler’s sibling in order to destroy the gods and also to revive Khaenri’ah and its people.
- One of the known Khaenri’ahns that still exist today is Daisnleif, who was the former knight captain of the Royal Guard of Khaenri’ah. He is now trying his utmost best to stop the Abyss Order from reviving Khaenri’ah.
A lot of information to process, right? Well, this only scratches the surface, and sadly, I don’t want to bore you with more details. With the basic understanding of Khaenri’ah taken care of, now let’s see how the Khaenri’ah revival took place in the ‘A Space and Time for You’ Archon quest.
Khaenri’ah’s Revival in Genshin Impact Explained
During the ‘A Space and Time for You’ Archon quest, we learn that the Abyss Order is attacking Natlan. Deciding to help them, the Traveler joins Daisnleif to investigate the plans of the Abyss Order. During their investigations, they eventually fight Haden, the sword master of Dainsleif from 500 years ago. Haden reveals that their attack on Natlan was only a misdirection to allow the Traveler’s sibling into the Night Kingdom unnoticed.
It was their plan from the beginning to revive Khaenri’ah with the help of the Lord of the Night and the Loom of Fate. The sibling basically wanted to recreate Khaenri’ah’s Ley Lines but without being restricted by the heavenly principles. The Lord of the Night apparently agreed to help the sibling in their plan, and they finally revived Khaenri’ah…or did they? Although Khaenri’ah’s Ley Lines were created as per the siblings’ plan, there were still a few things required to revive the old civilization.
Memories of Khaenri’ah
The first thing required to revive Khaenri’ah is the memories of that place. Ley Lines are simply a collection of memories, and they couldn’t bring back Khaenri’ah without them. However, the curse of immortality is such that it destroys a person’s soul and memories.
This is why the Abyss Order decided to send the Abyss Mages into meditation, in order to remember every little bit of information they can about Khaenri’ah to feed into the Ley Lines.
But as these wouldn’t be enough to rekindle the old civilization, the Abyss Order comes with an ingenious plan to trick Dainsleif. As Dainsleif is among the few from Khaenri’ah who has remained mostly unaffected by the corrosion of the soul and memories. Haden tricks him into reminiscing about Khaenri’ah. While reminiscing, Dainsleif talks about his memories of Khaenri’ah, which is then fed into the Ley Lines by Haden.
Space for the Khaenri’ahn Ley Lines to Exist
Once the memories were fed into the Ley Lines, the next step they had to figure out was the place where they would revive Khaenri’ah. The Abyss Order had to find a place for Khaenri’ah’s Ley Lines to exist, which is not a small task. Seeing this, the sibling decided to revive Khaenri’ah in Natlan but inside a different space-time as a temporary measure. This allowed Khaenri’ah to co-exist in the same space with Natlan’s Night Kingdom without conflicting, while the Loom of Fate wrote the memories into the new Ley Lines.
However, this also meant that Khaenri’ah will eventually need a space to exist in Teyvat if they want a full revival of the ancient civilization. This was also confirmed later in the story when the sibling confronts the Traveler after the decision of keeping or giving Direidyth the key takes place.
Is Khaenri’ah Fully Revived in Genshin Impact?
No, not yet. Khaenri’ah hasn’t fully revived in Genshin Impact as they still need to add more memories to the Ley Lines and find a suitable place to host the Ley Lines in Teyvat. Moreover, the ancient civilization of Khaenri’ah won’t return until the curse of immortality is broken. Otherwise, all the citizens of Khaenri’ah will continue their suffering. This curse will likely only break after the destruction of Celestia and the Heavenly Principles, which might be the end goal for the Traveler’s sibling and the Abyss Order.
So, tell us your opinion of the ‘A Space and Time for You’ Archon quest and whether you think the sibling will succeed in their plans.
