Is Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition Worth It?

In Short
  • Dragon's Dogma 2 comes in two editions: Standard and Deluxe.
  • The deluxe edition provides gamers with in-game items that help them progress faster in the early stages.
  • Players who want that added edge from the beginning should get Dragon's Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition.

RPG gamers worldwide cannot wait for the countdown to Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, it is worth knowing that pre-orders for the game have been out for a while. Just like other titles, players can choose from a standard and deluxe edition. But with Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Deluxe edition being a bit more expensive, you must be wondering if it’s worth it at all. Well, if you find yourself confused, keep reading, and we will break that down and help you decide.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers gamers two versions of the game to choose from: the Standard Edition ($70) and the Deluxe Edition ($80). As you can see, there is a $10 price difference, which also means the Deluxe Edition offers a bit more.

The standard edition of Dragon’s Dogma 2 includes the base game and the Superior Weapons Quartet pre-order bonus. This bonus translates to one strong weapon that appears golden for each of the four classes in-game. However, this benefit is shared by both editions of the game. Deluxe Edition owners will also get the Adventurer’s Safeguard Ring of Assurance as a pre-order bonus.

When you purchase the deluxe edition, you will receive in-game items that help with the first few hours of progression and even speed it up. The Deluxe Edition of Dragon’s Dogma 2 comes with the following added items:

  • Explorer’s Camping Kit.
  • Dragon’s Dogma Music and Sound Collection.
  • Harpysnare Smoke Beacons.
  • Heartfelt Pendant.
  • Ambivalent Rift Incense
  • Makeshift Gaol Key
  • The Art of Metamorphosis
  • Wakestone
  • 1,500 Rift Crystals.

As you can see yourself, paying that small premium does give you more items. While items like the music and sound collection are good for nostalgia, items like the Wakestone, Art of Metamorphosis, and Rift crystals will help you in the early game.

For instance – Rift crystal is a currency used for hiring pawns, Wakestone helps revive you or your ally from death, and the art of Metamorphosis allows you to access the character creator in-game after the first time.

So, paying that extra 10 dollars gives you more items for the price. However, do note that you will be able to purchase most of these items once you start exploring and playing the map. So, if you don’t want to buy Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition, that’s fine, too.

Should I Get Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition?

Now that you know what you get in each game version, you must be wondering which one to get. Besides the base game, which both editions naturally include, the Deluxe Edition of Dragon’s Dogma 2 will come with a plethora of items.

As such, I would tell you it’s absolutely worth getting Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition. Besides the in-game items, the added Rift Crystals will save you time and effort. However, while the added items will help during the early hours, it’s not like you can’t play the game without them. So, if you don’t feel like paying the $10 premium, then by all means, stick to the standard offering.

We hope you now have a clear idea of which Dragon’s Dogma 2 edition to buy. Still confused about your upcoming purchase? Drop your questions in the comments below!
