After numerous speculations over the weeks, HTC has revealed that it will unveil a new smartphone on May 23 and we expect it to be the successor to HTC U11.

Besides the launch date, HTC has shared an image of the internal components which make up the smartphone along with a catchphrase “a phone that is more than the sum of its specs“, which appears to be hinting at a cohesive user experience. The smartphone being teased could be the HTC U12, but the final name has not yet been confirmed.

The teardown view of the components also gives us some idea about the specifications. Firstly, there are four camera sensors, and it suggests that the U12 will have dual cameras on both front and back. This is line with the hands-on images leaked a couple of days or the image posted by leakster Evan Blass. We can see a hybrid SIM slot but there’s no headphone jack, which HTC evicted last year with the HTC U11.

In terms of specifications, we know for certain that Snapdragon 845 will power the device, as is the trend with most flagships. Previous leaks point that the U12 will come with a minimum of 6GB of RAM and at least 128GB of storage. The device will be equipped with a 3,500mAh battery and support for Qualcomm’s Fast Charging 3.0 – as per HTC’s Weibo post. The U12 should come with 16MP+12MP dual cameras on the back and 8MP+8MP setup on the front.

We also expect to get more details about the device, including a complete unmasking even before the launch and will keep you posted about details coming up in future.
