The ability to use melee armaments two-handed has been a part of almost every FromSoftware souls-like, including Elden Ring Nightreign. This should hardly be a surprise, considering the game iterates on the core Elden Ring formula and skews things in a multiplayer-driven direction. But the combat experience at the heart of the experience is largely the same, meaning two-handed weapons come with all the benefits players will already be familiar with. In case you’re wondering how to two-hand weapons in Elden Ring Nightreign, find out the controls for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in our guide below.
Elden Ring Nightreign: How to Two-Hand Weapons
To two-hand any weapon in Nightreign, players must hold the Interact button and press either the left or right Light Attack button, depending on which hand their weapon is equipped to. Press the same buttons again to revert to wielding the weapon using one hand.

For PS5 players looking to two-hand the weapon in their right hand, hold down the Triangle button and then press R1. Similarly, hold down Triangle and press L1 to two-hand the weapon in your left hand. On Xbox controllers, the input requirement is the same, so hold down the Y button and then press RB to two-hand the weapon in your right hand and vice versa.

On PC, things can be slightly confusing since the default keybind (at least in my case) was the Alt + Mouse Button. For this reason, we recommend going into the key bindings menu and manually changing the keybind. To do this, simply bring up the pause menu, navigate to the settings panel, and then scroll down to key bindings. You’ll find options for both left and right-handed two-handed armaments here, so change them according to your preference.
There are multiple benefits to two-handing a melee weapon, starting with a boost to damage output. A two-handed hit will always drain more HP, and in some cases, it also allows access to a custom moveset. Besides this, two-handed attacks also have a greater chance of breaking the enemy’s poise and staggering them.
Lastly, using the mechanic can help compensate for your character’s lack of strength. So, if you’re missing out on the STR requirement for any given weapon by only a few points, you can still use it effectively, in most cases, by two-handing the armament.
