Fortnite’s looped island is full of mysterious items that players tend to come across during their Battle Royale match. Whether it’s a new Sprite you aren’t aware of or an item dropped by an NPC, nothing sparks more wonder than the Unstable Element item in Fortnite. If you’re wondering what it is and how to get it in a Fortnite match, we’ve got you covered in this guide.

What is an Unstable Element in Fortnite?

An Unstable Element is similar to a Vault keycard in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3. It may look like a piece of blue tesseract-style slab, but it is actually quite useful for finding a relic chest (blue rare loot chest) on the Fortnite map.

Once you find it in a Fortnite Battle Royale match, head for a Teleporter Tunnel in a Fortnite match where you can open the tunnel vault to claim some of the rarest loot available; but more on that later. For now, if you’re wondering how to get your hands on one, read on below.

How to Find Unstable Element in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3

To find an Unstable Element in a Fortnite match, you’ll need to head to a Teleporter tunnel on the island. In the latest Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 island, there are five teleporter tunnels you can find. Here are their locations:

  • Tunnel 1: North East of The Battlewoods POI
  • Tunnel 2: North of Frosted Flats POI
  • Tunnel 3: North West of Shaken Sanctuary POI
  • Tunnel 4: West of Sinister Strip POI
  • Tunnel 5: North of Calamari Canyon POI

If you’re still having trouble navigating the Teleporter Tunnels, we’ve got a handy map below for you to reference. Once you’re inside a tunnel, simply travel between different teleporter tunnels, and after moving between one teleporter and another, an Unstable Element will randomly spawn in front of you as you pop out of the teleporter.

Once you see the purple and blue slab of Epic rarity, replace it with any of your item in your inventory slot and carry it with you. Remember, Unstable Elements do not stack. So in case you see two Unstable Elements in front of you, just carry one of those at a time in a Fortnite match.

Where to Use Unstable Element in Fortnite?

While you’re inside the tunnels with the Unstable Element in your inventory, move along the tunnel pipe, and you’ll come across a blue door right next to a Port-A-Potty in a Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 match. Walk closer to the blue door, and you’ll see an Open Vault interaction pop up on your screen.

Use your interact button and open the vault like you open a loot chest. Once you do, you’ll find a relic chest inside. Go ahead and open the chest to claim your loot. In our case, we got a pair of Seven Sliders in Fortnite, a Stinger SMG, some Gold Bars, an Earth Sprite, and a Shield Potion.

Remember, you won’t be able to see the interact button near the blue door if you do not have an Unstable Element in Fortnite. So the next time you’re inside a Fortnite tunnel, consider traveling between the teleporters. You may find some rare loot, which may help you master your Sprite in Fortnite.

Can you purchase Unstable Element from an NPC in Fortnite?

No, you cannot purchase an Unstable Element from an NPC in Fortnite, as you can only find it once you travel between teleporters.

Can I still use Unstable Element if all Fortnite tunnel vaults are open?

No, you won’t be able to use the Unstable Element if all Fortnite teleporter tunnel vaults are already open.
