Epic Games is continuing its streak of turning beloved pets from the game into Sidekicks, with the Fortnite Dodger Sidekick being the latest entry in this long list of cosmetics. The best part? Select players have a chance of receiving the new Pet for free. Here’s everything you need to know about this new Sidekick.

How to Get Free Fortnite Dodger Sidekick

You can only get the Dodger Fortnite Sidekick for free if you own the original Dodger pet back bling from the Chapter 1 Season 8 Battle Pass. The Dodger pet was available at Tier 52 of the Season 8 Battle Pass, only being available through the premium track. Now, players can get Dodger as a full-fledged Sidekick that follows you around and reacts to your eliminations.

Here are the steps you can follow to get the Fortnite Dodger Sidekick for free:

• Launch Fortnite with the account that has the original Dodger back bling in its cosmetic library.
• Upon logging in, you should receive a notification for the Sidekick automatically.
• If you do not see the notification, head to your locker and filter your collection by Sidekicks. You should then find the Dodger Sidekick in your inventory.

Once you have the Sidekick in your inventory, you can select it and customize it before equipping it. This will give you a brand new companion for your Battle Royale or LEGO Fortnite matches. Since the Fortnite Dodger Sidekick is free for all previous owners, you do not have to complete any weekly quests or event challenges to unlock it.

If you do not own the Dodger pet through the Battle Pass, you do not qualify for the free Sidekick. However, you can purchase the Dodger Sidekick when it hits the Fortnite Item Shop later down the line for 1,500 V-Bucks.
