How to Change Character in Elden Ring Nightreign

In Short
  • Elden Ring Nightreign features eight different character classes, each catering to a specific playstyle through unique stat allotments, passive abilities, skills, and more.
  • Players can change their class by interacting with the Character Selection altar that sits near the Table of Lost Grace at Roundtable Hold.
  • Characters can only be changed at Roundtable Hold, and not during an active expedition.

FromSoftware games are known for their fluid class systems that allow players to develop the archetype best suited to their playstyles. However, Elden Ring Nightreign represents a slight departure from this formula since it features eight specific classes, each catering to different character archetypes. All eight classes come with their own starting gear, passive abilities, character skills, Ultimate Arts, and more. So, you’ll need to give each of them a whirl to determine the character you have the most synergy with. If you’ve already tried one and want to switch, then here’s how to change your character in Elden Ring Nightreign.

How to Switch Class in Elden Ring Nightreign

To change your character in Elden Ring Nightreign, simply interact with the Character Selection altar flanked by a Banished Statue on the adjacent side of the Table of Lost Grace. This will bring up a menu featuring all eight classes, and you’re free to switch between them before embarking on an expedition.

The Table of Lost Grace sits within the Roundtable Hold, so you’ll need to progress past the game’s tutorial and unlock this location to change your character. To get here, you must use the default Wylder class and follow the on-screen instructions until you arrive at the Fell Omen boss fight. Dying to the boss twice will trigger a cutscene, which ends with your character awakening in the Roundtable Hold.

While switching characters, remember that you cannot alter their appearance, change their starting gear, or switch around their abilities and passive skills. Given the game’s roguelike focus, all characters revert to level one once you return to Roundtable Hold, and you can seek out their upgrades and Relic Rites by exploring thoroughly during expeditions.
