Google Chrome is undoubtedly one of the best web browsers out there. While the recent launch of Firefox Quantum might have finally meant that a decent competitor was finally in the market, Chrome is still preferred by the majority of the audience, simply because everything we use is connected and synced with our Google account.
In the same context, Chrome also saves all your passwords for easy login to websites. While the ability to export these passwords has long been available on desktop browsers, it seems as if Google is finally making the feature available to Android users as well.
As reported by Android Police, there are new flags on the latest builds of Chrome Canary and Dev, for importing and exporting saved passwords. The flags are #PasswordImport and #PasswordExport for importing and exporting respectively. Once enabled, you can simply head over to the “Save passwords” section of the Chrome browser, tap on the 3-dot menu, and select “Export passwords”. You will then be prompted to authenticate the request using your PIN/Password/Pattern, after which Chrome will then save your passwords to a spreadsheet file, in CSV format.
To enable the said flags, simply head over to “chrome://flags” in your browser. Now, search for “Password” and enable the toggles next to the aforementioned flags.
As of now, there is no telling when these flags will make their way to the stable version of Chrome for Android, although we do not expect that to take place before v65. In the meantime, if you feel like trying out the above-mentioned flags and gain the ability to export and import passwords, you can download the browser of your choice from the Play Store.
