Google Assistant Now Lets You Send or Receive Money via Google Pay in the US

Google Assistant can do a lot of things, but Google has just announced its first real Google Pay integration in the most logical way.

In a new blog post, Google said Assistant can now be used to send or receive money from your friends and other contacts. “You can easily send or request money from your contacts—for free—using the Assistant on Android and iOS phones in the U.S. In the coming months, you’ll be able to send money on voice-activated speakers like Google Home,” Sam Kansara, the Google Pay Product Manager wrote.

Additionally, Assistant-enabled payments will also work for those who haven’t signed up for Google Pay; such users will be asked to sign up for Google Pay as soon as they send the command to their phone or Google Home. “Funds are transferred almost instantaneously, even if the recipient doesn’t have a Google Pay account.” The Google Pay app will alert you when you receive money, and Google will also send an email, text message confirmation. Finally, you can cash out from the Google Pay account.

When voice assistants first arrived on the scene, the functionality was largely restricted to search. But Google has been adding some great new functionality to Assistant to make it really useful, and the latest one is especially handy for such use-cases as splitting bills, rent or any expense with friends and family.
