Frankenstein is scheduled to be released in November 2025 on Netflix; no confirmed release date has been announced yet. As confirmed by del Toro, the film will also have a limited theatrical run to meet the eligibility criteria for award nominations. The film was a dream project for Guillermo del Toro that he envisioned in 2007.

However, due to some unfortunate incidents and a lack of funding, the movie couldn’t be produced despite being nearly completed. Netflix’s higher-ups decided to put their trust in del Toro and his passion project in 2023.

Guillermo del Toro has given the industry some of the finest horror projects. One of these is the gothic horror animated film Pinocchio, which was released in 2022. It sits on Rotten Tomatoes with 96%, so we can certainly say that the tale of the monster that Frankenstein created went into the best hands.

Is There a Trailer for Frankenstein (2025)?

No, we do not have an official trailer for the film yet. Recently, Netflix dropped a trailer teasing the events and the projects that will be featured in Netflix Tudum 2025, and that’s when we got the first glimpse of Isaac Oscar’s Victor at the 0:41 mark. Given that the event will go live on Netflix on May 31, 2025, at 8 pm ET (5 pm PT), let’s roll up our sleeves as it will surely reveal Frankenstein’s official trailer.

What Is the Story of Frankenstein?

The original story of Frankenstein revolves around a helpless soul who is brought back to life by a Swiss student of natural philosophy named Victor Frankenstein. Victor has always fantasized about coming back from the dead, so he creates an 8-foot-tall living dead but abandons him after seeing his monstrous appearance. However, the creature doesn’t give up on hope and continues his search for Victor, while learning human habits such as eating and talking.

However, the premise of the 2025 adaptation tells a different story. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein states that “Dr. Pretorious must find the monster created by Victor Frankenstein in order to continue the experiment that was left unfinished.”

The creator never allowed us to know what’s in his head, so we won’t have the privilege of learning about the path he took until the film arrives on the streaming platform.
