  • Epic Games recently introduced Shoulder Rides and Rideable Llamas in Fortnite for April Fools' Day.
  • Fortnite dev Ted Timmins has suggested that Epic is considering making these additions permanent.
  • The decision to make the features permanent depends on player feedback.

Epic Games recently launched the Fortnite April Fools update, bringing its annual round of silliness to Chapter 7 Season 2. While the v40.10 update introduced several wild mechanics, it looks like Epic could keep some of these popular additions, specifically Fortnite Shoulder Rides and Rideable Llamas, around even after the April Fools event ends. Here’s everything we know so far.

Fortnite Shoulder Rides and Rideable Llamas Could Become Mainstays in Chapter 7 Season 2

The possibility of Shoulder Rides and Rideable Llamas sticking around stemmed not from a leak, but a comment from Fortnite dev Ted Timmins himself. During the rollout of the Fortnite 40.10 update, Timmins took to X to respond to a fan enquiring about the new April Fools feature.

In his comment, Ted stated: “If people are enjoying it, then Llama Riding and shoulder riding will be present for the rest of the Season.

This is undoubtedly great news for players, especially since the new April Fools additions have been some of the most exciting parts of Fortnite in a while. Shoulder riding, despite not granting any significant competitive advantage, makes for some hilarious moments during matches, especially if enemies also jump on and keep growing the stack.

Rideable Llamas, on the other hand, are one of Fortnite’s most unique mobility methods, right alongside the Skyline Deployer. This new feature adds a whole other facet to one of Fortnite’s biggest mascots, expanding its capabilities and even increasing the amount of loot players can get from Llamas.

If players do end up enjoying these new changes, except for Finger Guns, it would be great to see this level of goofiness become a mainstay in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2.
