How to Unlock Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign

In Short
  • The Revenant is a support character in Elden Ring Nightreign that can summon phantom allies as aid during combat.
  • To unlock this character, players must purchase the Besmirched Frame item from the Small Jar Bazaar, and then interact with the phantom that spawns in the east wing of Roundtable Hold.
  • After doing this, players will be transported to a boss fight. Defeating the Night Idol boss unlocks the Revenant class.

The Revenant is one of the most complex character classes in Elden Ring Nightreign. While her appearance matches that of an innocent doll, the Revenant’s core abilities see her dip into macabre magic to reanimate the corpses of her enemies and turn them into friendly phantoms. The character’s kit is built around supporting a full team of Nightfarers, but she also fares well solo, aided by the help of her undead ‘family.’ For players looking to try out this class, check out our guide on how to unlock Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign.

How to Get The Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign

To unlock the Revenant, you’ll need to purchase the Besmirched Frame item from the Small Jar Bazaar at Roundtable Hold. After acquiring the item, navigate to the east wing of Roundtable Hold, and you’ll find the phantom of a young woman standing near paintings of the Erdtree.

It’s important to note that you can only purchase the Besmirched Frame after unlocking the Duchess. To reach the east wing, we recommend using the map and following the exclamation mark that pops up after you purchase the item.

Interact with this phantom to be transported to the tutorial area, where you’ll need to defeat the Revenant Night Idol boss to complete this mini-quest and unlock the character class.

Elden Ring Nightreign Night Idol Boss Fight Guide

Unfortunately, the Night Idol boss fight is a prime example of what players typically refer to as a ‘gank’. This means you’ll be fighting multiple, tanky enemies at once, with the main boss hiding behind their backup. In this case, the Revenant summons three skeletal phantoms to keep you occupied while maintaining her distance and casting Golden Order Incantations from afar.

The enemies she summons include a sword-wielding soldier who is always on the offensive, a troll-like behemoth with a hefty blunt weapon, and a giant stationary skeleton that protects the area around the Revenant. While most players will look to concentrate their attacks on the Night Idol, hoping to take her out quickly, this isn’t the best strategy.

You’ll often find yourself getting crowded out by the phantoms who’ll hone in on the Revenant’s position and put your ambitions to rest. To make the boss fight easier, check out these suggestions:

  • Take out the Soldier first: Use his relentless agro to your advantage to draw him away from the rest of his skeletal buddies. Take advantage of this brief isolation to deal individual damage, and eventually, the soldier will fall.
  • Target the Troll second: The tanky behemoth’s slow-moving nature makes him easy to deal with after the aggressive soldier has been defeated. Make sure to maintain your distance and roll away from his swings. Follow up your dodges with a punishment, back to safety, and repeat until the enemy is down.
  • Isolate the Night Idol: Avoid attacking the Night Idol from the jump because you’re likely to get ganged up on by the phantom foes. Instead, take out her backup, including the stationary skeleton, and then concentrate on the main boss.
  • Recommended Character Classes: We recommend using the Guardian, Raider, or the Ironeye for this boss fight. While the former two are solid picks for their sizable HP pools and attack power, the Ironeye is perfect for taking out the summons from a distance, especially the stationary skeleton.

  • FP: 80
  • Stamina: 54
  • Playstyle: Spirit Summoner
  • Starting Gear: Revenant’s Cursed Claws, Finger Seal
  • Skill: Summon Spirit
  • Passive: Necromancy
  • Ultimate Art: Immortal March

The Revenant is primarily a support character, and she’s quite unique in that regard as well. Instead of having offensive and defensive abilities, her kit is build around using spirit summons to flood the battlefield. These phantom friendlies can help take enemy aggro off her teammates, allowing them to get some breathing room while giving her a chance to cast incantations or get in a powerful melee attack.

Her passive ability, Nercromancy, sees the character reanimate a defeated foe as an allied phantom. These ghostly creatures will engage enemies before vanishing after one minute. Spirit Summon, her character skill, lets the Revenant spawn one of three powerful spectral allies. These include Helen the Page, Frederick the Pumpkin Head, or Sebastian the Giant Skeleton. All three allies behave differently and have their own ultimate attacks that can be triggered manually by activating the Revenant’s Ultimate Art.

Speaking of which, the Immortal March Ultimate grants the Revenant, her active summons, and her fellow Nighfarers a brief period of immortality. During its active duration, the character and her party members cannot be killed, but they will continue to take damage until their HP falls to one. Any downed allies within the Ultimate’s area of effect can also be revived using the ability.
