How to Play Elden Ring Nightreign Co-Op
Elden Ring Nightreign supports three-player co-op, meaning you can commence an expedition by teaming up with two other Nightfarers. There are a few things to note, starting with the lack of two-player co-op, a feature that the studio is said to be considering for the future.
The game also doesn’t feature crossplay but supports cross-generation play. This means that PlayStation users cannot join players on Xbox consoles. However, PS5 players can team up with PS4 players, and vice versa for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S users.
With that out of the way, here’s how you can play Elden Ring Nightreign in co-op:
- Complete the game’s tutorial, and eventually, you’ll reach the Roundtable Hold. Once there, interact with the Table of Lost Grace at the center of the hold.
- This will bring up the Expedition menu. Use the right bumper on controllers, or press F2 on PC to switch to the Matchmaking Settings tab.
- You’ll see a section called ‘Multiplayer Password‘ in this tab. Select it and type any password for your co-op party.
- Now, share this password with your friends who need to log into the game, and type the password in the same section. If inviting a single friend, set the ‘No. of Password Players‘ slider to ‘Two Players’. Set this slider to ‘Three Players’ to play with two friends. Your friends will also need to select the same option in this slider.
- Once this is done, switch back to the Expeditions tab and select the mission you want to take on. Make sure that your friends have also selected the same expedition.
- Hit ‘Commence Expedition,’ and you’ll arrive in Limveld with your friends for company.
How to Play Elden Ring Nightreign with Friends Using Steam
Players on Steam can use a more direct method to play Nightreign with their friends. Before launching the game, make sure that your buddies are added to your friends list. Now, fire up the game and follow these steps:
- While standing near the Table of Lost Grace, bring up the Steam overlay (set to Shift+Tab by default.
- In the overlay, you’ll be able to spot a Friends tab. Right-click on the friends you want to invite (no more than two) and then select the ‘Invite to Party‘ option in the dropdown menu.
- Your friends will receive a message with a green button that lets them join you in co-op play.
- Once they’re added to your party, their names will pop up on the right side of the screen in-game. The player with a flag placed near their name serves as the host.
- To start a co-op game, only the host has to select an expedition, while other players need to select ‘Commence Expedition’ to signal that they’re ready.
- Once this is done, you’ll be transported to Limveld.
Reasons Why Elden Ring Nightreign Co-Op Might Be Unavailable
Like most co-op games, there is a chance you might run into issues while playing Nightreign. The most obvious reason behind this is incorrect passwords, so make sure your friends have entered the code correctly.

Remembrance mode must be activated manually before the start of an expedition. More importantly, only one player in a party is allowed to have Remembrance mode enabled.
