It was a big night for gamers and game developers, as the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences handed out numerous accolades at 21st annual D.I.C.E Awards in Las Vegas. The awards were given out to a lot of game developers and studios across different categories.
Nintendo scored big at the DICE awards tonight. The Legend of Zelda came away with four of the 24 awards, and Nintendo itself won 10 awards as either developer or publisher. Nintendo’s open-world adventure was awarded Game of the Year and Adventure Game of the Year. It also received the awards for Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction and Outstanding Achievement in Game Design.
Other notable winners are Cuphead, Horizon Zero Dawn, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, and others. Additionally, Genyo Takeda, Special Corporate Advisor at Nintendo, received a Lifetime Achievement Award recognizing his integral role in the gaming industry.
